Okay /g/,
salvaged a rubber keyboard from an old kiosk I was working on (PS2 cable), however the the wire needed to be cut. I attempted using a spare USB cable I had laying around and identified the Power, Ground, Data +/- cables, and it appears that both red cables carry power as well as the blue from the PS2 type cable on the keyboard. When plugging into my MAC or PC I get errors saying "USB deactivated, remove device using too much power." So do I need a resistor? Convertor cable? did some research to no avail. Any thoughts? pic related af.

I was going to actually spend a good amount of time helping you until I read that.
Fuck off millenial
USB and PS2 are separate protocols, you can't just hook them up and expect them to work without an adapter.
That said, USB data lines are 3v3 nominal.

>wondering why you're getting too much power to incompatible wires
You can't niggerrig a ps2 keyboard to work on usb, it just doesn't work that way.
Be glad you didn't immediately blow your southbridge and move on.

Why on eart did you yhink a PS2 cable was compatible with USB? Connect it to a PS2 plug and use a adapter.
