Why are Americans so far behind the times and still using SMS instead of pic related?
>>
>>58140200
Americans still use imperial units
Americans still buy locked phones
Americans still use magnetic-stripe cards
Americans still use DSL with data caps
Americans microwave water
Americans sit on their roofs wearing red plastic cups
Americans put eggs in the fridge doors and buy aerosol cheese
Americans have two parties and call that "a democracy"

Americans do a lot of weird stuff, using SMS is perhaps the least strange thing about this nation
>>
>>58140200
What's wrong with SMS?
>>
>>58140512
objectively inferior to a messaging app and SMS aren't even encrypted.

There's a lot of factors (mostly corporate nonsense) that hold back a lot of technological advancement amongst the average Amerifat in Clapistan.

Mostly, it boils down to this:
>Wow! Look at this new thing!
>Does it cost money to adapt to new thing?
>Yes.
>Let's just keep the old thing.
>>
>>58140298
>Americans sit on their roofs wearing red plastic cups

You do Americans use automatic transmission instead of superior manual transmission?

What's it like living in the past? Today's automatics shift faster than manuals ever could and they're more efficient.

WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and iMessage are used by millions of people in this country. None of them are SMS.

Because in the land of frivolous lawsuits, you can't even trust Americans to wipe their own ass without injuring themselves, let alone manually shift their cars.

Every product must do the job as automatically as possible, with the least amount of consumer interaction. Any form of physical contact between the product and consumer must include a 20-page disclaimer that prevents numerous creative ways the consumer can snake through the lawbooks and sue the company for neglect.
>>
>>58140512
No encryption.
>>

They take pride in not having internet on their phones all the time and call third worlders those who do.

I'm sorry what's the advantage again? Drive a car made in the last 5 years with an automatic transmission. Manual "peasant" technology is completely obsolete.

I live in building, the "roof" can be reserved for barbecues and pool parties.

Isn't 'wearing' the act of using clothes on your body?

How do you wear a plastic cup.

It's a joke about how many American films/tv shows have a scene where they sit on their roofs and talk about something. American films/tv shows also show frat parties where everyone drinks out of plastic red cups all the time.

Obviously it's not accurate. Americans would fall through their roof if they sat on it since their houses are made of cardboard. And if you drank in public, you'd get arrested.

They are part of the same company, giving your phone number to one is pretty much like giving it to the entire corporation. And you are bending the definition of botnet to fit your arguments.

>>58141139
Yep that's odd, still a million times more secure than SMS. For sexting and stuff like that it's pretty much completely secure. If you really want to be 100% private you should probably use Signal anyway.
>>
>>58141139
Pretty much every app doesn't delete data securely. It costs too much time and energy to remove data while destroying any way to forensically trace it. And it's not like SMS avoids the issue either, it's still far less secure.

>>

The difference is that the rest of the world can also drive an automatic as well as a manual. There are literal third-worlders who are smart enough to drive a manual car yet most Americans can't even manage that.
>>
>>58140821

It's significantly slower, actually. (Not just slower than Whatsapp, but all internet messengers.)
It usually takes a couple of seconds to be delivered. I wonder why, must be because of some old tech from the 90s...

>Shifts slower
An automatic can "shift faster" but still be slower than a manual due to parasitic loss (Does not apply to DCT's). Just look at every Subaru ever made, the manuals are always accelerate faster, of course you have to be a competent driver to achieve this.

>Loses more power
There's inherent parasitic losses thanks to driving a high pressure fluid pump, extra weight, and the reality of how torque converters work (does not apply to DCT''s)

>One more thing for the driver to do
Sorry to hear you spent 10 years driving a stick and still suck at it, it's okay.
>>
>>58140298
>Americans microwave water

It's effortless. No reason exists not to use a microwave for that job.

I don't require encryption because I'm not messaging classified data. I wouldn't send that over a phone by any method, or the internet. If the NSA want your shit you can't stop them. I want an NSA minder to prove my bona fides in case I ever need to renew my security clearance. I don't care if they watch me fap to goat porn.

Reasons do not exist for me to prefer manual transmissions (except on motorcycles) to auto. Driving is work. More work is pointless for no return. I've been driving manuals longer than most of you faggots have been on the planet, but only lately has a manual transmission become some sort of stupid tryhard hipster macho statement. Shifting is easy but it's still extra work. When I use my trucks it's much more convenient to have an automatic for towing, pulling other vehicles where I want them prior to trailering, preloading trees for controlled felling, or just driving in traffic.

Use Aptoide instead. It's a trusted app supplier and from what I've heard it's FOSS. There are also other ways to download apps off Google without gapps.

You normally need an "app store" on your phone unless you want to download and update apps manually. If you're no longer using play store then Aptoide is one of better options. F-droid is also good as it has lots of useful open source apps.

Canadians use metric units.
Locked phones is true
Canadians haven't used magnetic-stripe cards in years unless their chip or tap is no longer working and its a last resort
Canadians have the option for unlimited data almost everywhere and any town/city larger than a few rednecks has fiber or cable.
Canadians can't microwave water because its too cold here, it just stays ice
Canadians don't have roofs that we can physically sit on, the igloo would collapse
I've never seen a Canadian put eggs in the door, they're always on the middle shelf. And I don't think we even have aerosol cheese Also >eating eggs and dairy
Canadians have three parties and we can vote for anyone we want because the parties are decided by the amount of elected officials in local ridings.

I'm not only speaking of DCTs - torque converters these days shift far faster and far more efficiently as well.

It's almost (but not quite) impossible to find a manual version of a car that accelerates as quickly or is as efficient as the automatic version.

This has been true for years. You luddites should learn a thing or two.

Whatsapp is incredibly popular among Germans, Pakis, Somalis and other brown-skinned ethnic groups.

Look, I don't know about you eurofags, but I don't do anything with personal information across the internet. The furthest I'll go is an email address. Anything important is either hardcopy or stored on a computer that hasn't seen an internet connection since 1999 and is stored in a fireproof safe.

If my 1988 Mercury Grand Marquee has absolutely no problems and still serves it's purpose fine - why the hell do I need to replace or repair it? I don't want XM radio, I don't need the safety features, I don't need better fuel efficiency.

Just because you can doesn't always mean you particularly should.

>>
>>58162477

Err, because we learned that the NSA + their counterparts have tapped the telcom backbones of most of the fucking developed world, share all this data with each other, and maintain permanent records thereof, for everyone, ever, in a nice little searchable database?

And yes there is a problem with it. When you mail someone, the government doesn't intercept it, photocopy it, send a copy to all of its allies, and store it in a warehouse indefinitely. Not because they wouldn't, either, but because they're not fucking allowed to. And for good reason.
>>
>>58162540

I like it how the stupidest people are often the most eager to call others stupid and very self-confident at it.
Let's look at a case of Hillary's ego:

>Paris attacks happen
>attackers used open insecure communication without any encryption
=======
>Does Hillary let her experts assess the situation before she goes public with her opinion, and does she listen to the advice of her experts?
Nope.
She not only jumps the wagon and goes public, she starts an anti-encryption crusade immediately.
=======
>What does this mean?
Impatience. Very bad leadership quality and a sign of ego.
Not caring about her advisory and experts and their opinions or giving them time to assess the situation. Very bad leadership quality and a sign of ego.
Completely digging herself a hole when she started her tirade against encryption and completely missing the point. Questionable trust, which is very bad for someone trying to be a leader.

She's the same as Trump. Equally bad.
Get your head out of your ass.

Let's not even get into the topic of listening to historian advisory.

>>58162855
It also doesn't mean that you can't use a more rational timing and location to discuss encryption in a rational manner,
instead of fucking up on all fronts and appearing like a fly crazily flying in the direction of a pile of poop.

Her fuckup also had diplomatic ramifications, because her attack on encryption being proven wrong also means she indirectly harmed the functioning and reputation of the intelligence network and communication between two allies, France and USA, made the US intelligence look bad because they need to appear correct with their assessments now more than ever, and made the French intelligence look incompetent because it turned out no encryption was involved.
The tactic of defending unencrypted communication involved in a terrorist attack requires a different angle from attacking encryption.

Now everyone looks like a bunch of eager children because of that one fuckup, and a little more trust was lost with society.

In the end Hillary losing came down to only 80K votes in two or three states.

I think the US Senate will never admit that this changed the outcome but it will punish the Putin regime very hard.
>>
>>58163116
>They are not releasing evidence yet because they want to impeach Trump once he is in office.

I don't believe they will be allowed to impeach Trump because it is in the interest of everyone for USA and Russia to ease their relations rather than burn them further.

It's ironic seeing the Democrats engage in the Red Scare these years.
Those over 40 must be laughing their asses off.

You realize that Hillary won the popular vote by 2.1%? And most Trump voters are over 50 years old.

You're the crazy minority.

Yeah. We'll just ignore that many in conservative centers were dissuaded from voting, which is a pretty significant number.
>>
>liberals smugly proclaim that stupid people birth the most while smart people have the least amount of children
>liberals proclaim that those stupid people are mostly non-liberals
>liberals start expecting a majority to be on their side in votes contrary to their own smug social math
First discrepancy.

>liberals smugly defend the rights of minorities
>liberals jerk off on and on about minorities
>liberals lose in a voting system designed to protect and give representation to minorities (minority states)
>liberals start calling for an end of a system that protects minorities contrary to their own values
Second discrepancy.

>liberals smugly proclaim that all people should be gay, all females should just not have children, that smart people have less or no children, that people should put careers in front of family
>liberals smugly proclaim that more Muslims and nont-Western cultures should be brought in because Multiculturalism is good
>those Muslims, Chinese, and all other cultures except Western ones are mostly very conservative, very anti-feminist, very anti-gay, and they have much higher birth rates than liberals
>Liberals self-eradicate themselves and their own values as societies that shit on their values overpopulate and overthrow them
Third discrepancy.
>>

popular vote is meaningless in the US System. Voter turnout is very low in non swing states.

If you suddenly don't agree with the system just because your candidate lost, you are fascist.

It was the conservatives themselves who dissuaded.
In case you have been living under a rock, allow me to remind you that you didn't lose to conservatives, you lost to a 3rd party which is what Trump is.
Both the Republicans and Democrats lost in this election.

That would be correct if the Social Justice Evangelist's stopped waging a crusade against white males and stopped acting like condescending douches.
As things look now, SJE's will keep insulting and appearing extremely hateful,
they will probably up their hate against Christians as well (and Latinos and blacks happen to be very very big church goers and very traditionalist),
and they will at one point hit a nerve they shouldn't have in their wide-covering "progressive" hate-train.

The thing is that social justice evangelists need to get rid of some of their hate to accommodate Latinos who are becoming the significant voting force,
but cutting down hate is not something liberals are exactly good at.
The Horseshoe Theory has been proven too many times in the past 4 years.

I would love to shit on Apple for yet another thing, but locked phones isn't one of them We had that shit long before apple.

Arguably apple was one of the better providing a easy venue to buy totally unlocked phones. (I mean after the initial carrier lock bs at launch)

We had locked phones for a long long time, long before smart phones.

I still have some early Morotola phones (Microtacs and StarTacs) that are locked. I understand what you're saying, but I feel like it was more reinforced by smartphones than anything else.

Prior to the smartphone, a cellular phone was used as a phone. For making calls. Of course, you could send short messages, but this was inconvenient and expensive for a time.

It's too bad there's practically 0 support for things like the Palm Treo anymore, those were excellent precursors to smartphones, as was the Handspring Visor.

>imperial units
Have their uses. Metric is used where appropriate in the sciences. Arguments about unit conversion in imperial are irrelevant because the idea is that you don't convert between the units. Nobody cares how many miles tall a person is, even though miles are a unit of length. Similarly, nobody cares about the number of feet from Earth to Mars. Unit size is proportionate to the class of problems it is used to address, rather than arbitrarily deciding everything should be 10 times the last unit type.

>locked phones
Unlocked phones are available. Some people are just retarded or don't care.

>magnetic-stripe cards
Being phased out, but there's not that much wrong with them. At least we're not using fucking NFC for everything and getting our money stolen from our pockets because someone has a fake scanner on the train.

>DSL with data caps
Internet quality depends upon where you live. Some of us have pretty decent connections. It's a pain in the ass to address this problem though, because government backed monopolies, and the fact that it's a huge fucking country to lay down wires over.

>microwave water
Nothing wrong with this. Microwaves are exceedingly efficient at heating water. That's how they heat food, by rapidly flipping the water molecules in it back and forth.

>Americans sit on their roofs wearing red plastic cups
What?

>Americans put eggs in the fridge doors and buy aerosol cheese
Most consumed cheeses in America are Mozzarella, Cheddar, and Parmesan in that order. Only morons keep eggs in the door. If you buy it by the flat (60 eggs) it doesn't fit anyways.

>Americans have two parties and call that "a democracy"
We have many parties. Nobody votes for anyone but the Republicrats though.
