It's very decent on my Nexus 6. Not quickpic fast but not even close to google photos slowness.

LeafPic. It has hidden folders and ui customization. It's also free as in freedom, so it wouldn't be ridden with malware.

I would have recommended Leafpic until it crapped out on me today, now it won't work through another app properly.

I was using Leafpic and that crap is just laggy and crash prone garbage. I abandoned the old version of QuickPic because I want something modern. I finally gave up and just started using Google Photos app.
