If a team chooses one of those sets of principles themselves and management doesn't force inane formalities, stand-up meetings and all that bullshit, those have a chance to make the development process more efficient.
If it gets "sold by consultants to tech illiterate managers and higher-ups" (the management is distanced from the development process and has no clue if those principles are really applicable) then you're in trouble.
