Me neither. My laptop has a 2670qm and an SSD with read speeds of ~550MBps and ubuntu takes around 30 seconds to boot whereas debian boots in 5 seconds and is a lot more responsive. Why would I install ubuntu when it's simply debian with a shitload of packages that I'll never use?

It doesn't matter whether it's a laptop or a desktop. It won't change the fact that it needs such a long time to boot on a drive that can saturate a sata3 connection.

A workaround is not a solution and this still doesn't change the fact that ubuntu is bloated. By that logic using a 40GB IDE laptop drive as a boot drive is also ok since you can just use standby.

I have a 240GB SSD and a 750GB HDD on that laptop I was talking about. Storage space isn't a problem for me but that doesn't mean that I'll fill it up with worthless shit that I won't ever use especially if it decreases responsiveness in any way.

It simply decreases responsiveness in general. You wouldn't want to use a shitty HDD from 2003 that has read speeds of 40-50MBps. Modern HDDs are slower than SSDs but still fine as boot drives. The only problem is that they are not suitable for laptops as vibrations and being moved regularly is not a good thing for HDDs.
