New BSD thread /g/uys!
ITT: We talk unix. What are you running and where? Whats to hate/love? Would you recommend it to others?
is anyone booting it straight up? not in a vm like a faggot. i am tired of windows and gahnoo slash linox.
i heard a lot of bsd devs dont even use their own operating system.

That depends very much on which BSD you're talking about.
i use solus and its really good
would recommend
macOS is the best bsd

I am. Using it on a x61, plays nicely with the hardware. All in all its a nice system. You can compile from source via ports or install packages. Both works in an comfy way.

Its not a real bsd. Its some mangled mach kernel with bsd userland. But it follows similar ideas.

using a functional OS

Why making /bsd/ threads ? It's away empty and it ends with license wars.
Don't you know that BSD users are too busy making good shit ?
We're not archfag shitposting about a nice colorscheme for flat wm.
If you want to install a BSD OS, go read FAQ and mans, we're too busy right now. Sorry.
Why can't I boot FreeBSD from a USB stick?
I dd the .img to the USB but the computer doesn't recognize it. For comparison, dd-ing NetBSD's .img and any linux's ISO to a USB works.
Seems like the only way to install FreeBSD is via CD drive, which I don't have.
>>58040210
#man afterboot
