so can i just add in my own entries into grub.cfg and they will work OK? i'm trying to get a fully plugged in debian install recognized by another drive's bootloader. pic somewhat related
No, grub is a sentient bootloader, it will know if you edit its config file manually and will plot to kill you.
If you don't fuck it up

You can but if you run grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg then it will overwrite your changes.

cool, i intend to copy it over from the working drive.
what is going on is that i have recently rsync'd my whole install over to a larger SSD. now when i boot off the larger SSD i literally boot into my smaller one because I'm assuming the grub entries have been merely duplicated and dont reference the newer drive.
That said, because i did update my grub config on my smaller one right after I rsync'd, my smaller drive can recognize the larger drive so im just going to copy over the entry so the larger drive can recognize itself.

Nobody cares. Seriously.
