Holy shit. Scripting is way more fun than I'd imagine.
I just made a script for binary files that edits certain bytes (either with a file or typed out) and moves everything to a specified directory.
At first, the script was just supposed to launch dhex on the files so I'd edit the specific offsets myself but now it's done automatically.
Feels good man.

There aren't any, genkernel is bad for configuring your kernel. Just use it to make an initramfs if you need one by doing genkernel --install initramfs
Just follow this and you should have no issues at all.
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Kernel/Configuration
Also check everything you use LVM, pulseaudio, amd gpu, etc. on the gentoo wiki. They usually provide info for enabling kernel modules you need.
>>58021085
By using gentoo's delob useflag and building modprobed-bd from git, it isn't in the main portage tree.
It compiles in about 7 minutes for me if I do a make localmodconfig.

nah, it's your retardation. i've installed it more than 10 times at this point on literally everything i could get my hands on and i've never had this. It's just untaring an archive so this behavior is really strange.
Explain the steps you did excluding the partitioning. Do other packages download properly? Try emerging 4.9 and delete your previous ones in /usr/src. Also do emerge --depclean after or before that.

because you weren't untaring anything in your chrooted environment, you did that from a livecd.
Maybe the install does something else too, but it sure as fuck doesn't compile anything at this point. All emerge gentoo-sources should do is get the sources, apply necessary patches and copy them to /usr/src/

How do you encrypt larger directories on GNU/Linux? Standard programs default to leaving the original file after encrypting meaning you have to remove the original yourself. There are no flags that fix this problem.

This means that you have to have as much free space on the disk as the original file which is not ideal.

Is there a solution to this (besides custom scripting)?

typically (afaik) you would use something like openssl or gpg after taring the dir (notice how tar has the --remove-files flag so you don't run into a space issue)

Both gpg and openssl default to leaving the plaintext file there after encryption.

Let's change the topic to sex. Is there a program which can extract rar files, which is free as in freedom?

So I installed ubuntu on my mom's pc last week. Next I discover she has skype (which is proprietary software) installed and she has been using it. How do I securely create and use a Linux OS partition where Spyware 10 can't touch it, and which OS would be best for this? or is it virtual box
>>
>>58028078
The newer versions of Firefox won't let you use addons unless you give them to Mozilla to cryptographically sign them.
I wrote a bunch of addons to improve my workflow a while ago, but now Mozilla won't let me use them unless I surrender my code to them.
>>
>>58028112
Oh yeah. That signature thing really sucks.
>>
>>58028092
proprietary drivers aren't some sort of universal solutions, kek
>>
>>58028112
I found this: https://f-droid.org/forums/topic/please-do-not-drop-firefox-support/page/2/#post-18439

It seems that unsetting MOZ_ADDON_SIGNING and MOZ_REQUIRE_SIGNING in mozconfig is enough to turn off this "feature". I'll give it a try later.
>>
>>58028195
they tend to be
>>
>>58028092
The problem isn't the player.

There is no proprietary driver for audio in my options for additional drivers.

As I said, virtual box is fine. The problem happens only when I boot the Ubuntu that's actually installed on my machine.

It is supported by debian, you just have to git gud.

Why is
'(perl-)rename 's/(\d+)/$1+1/e' *
deleting intermediary files?

The problem occurrs with this structure:
Name_09[info1].mkv
Name_10[info1].mkv
...
Name_13[info1].mkv

Name_10[info1].mkv to 13 get deleted for reasons unknown to me (only leaving a Name_14[info1].mkv file behind), because with -vn everything is going well (increase the first number by one in the filename).
>>
>>58032913
>>
>>58032913
>>'(perl-)rename 's/(\d+)/$1+1/e' *

I think I know the problem now:
'Rename' tries to rename the file Name_09[info1].mkv to Name_10[info1].mkv, since it already exists, the file gets deleted (?!).
