gtx 1070 w/ 1080p 144hz gsync monitor? or 1440 monitor?
or
amd 480 w/ 1080p 144hz freesync monitor? or 1440 monitor?
I'll be getting a new gpu now and a new monitor in the near future, currently have 1080p 60hz monitor. The hell should I go for?
>1440p 144hz
>1070 with gsync
You get at least 60fps on maxed games at 1440p, so you get the whole 60-144fps range and it all looks fine because gsync
Are you asking for monitor choices or gpu choices? Those GPUs aren't really comparable

So it would make sense to get a 1070 with a 1080p 144hz monitor? Would I need gsync then?
>>58004202
I guess both. But at the moment I can afford the 1070 just fine.

Get the 1070 if you can. the 480 does not hold a flame to it even with dx12 and freesync memes. In time nvidia may even adopt freesync.
>>58004301
I mean you can get 1440p at 60hz in pretty much any game easily, or you could get close to to 1080p 144hz (and "close" would be fine with gsync)
Both monitors match the 1070's power either way, it's just whether you want 1440p or High-hz
I got my 1440p 144hz gsync monitor for only $500 though
>>58003970
If you can afford it go 1070 and 1440p/144hz and gsync.
It'll be like a grand though.
Get a 1070, figure the monitor later. You don't base your gpu on the monitor. Other way around.

the RX 480 with a 1080p 144hz display, it should end up only being around $400
or get an RX 480 with this $400 or under 1440p 144hz IPS free-sync display, then upgrade to whatever Vega GPU next year, probably the best option

wtf amd it a bulsshit GO for the 1070 and in 2018 go for the volta gpu!!!
>>58007245
That's stupid though, then you don't get free-sync right now
besides the Fury X is still about as fast as a 1070 @stock

The 1070 is better than the 480 by a stretch. It's mostly just how much you're willing to spend on hardware.
