I've been thinking of getting an e-reader (probably a kindle, though I ain't a brandwhore) for myself and realized maybe I could also read manga on those. So I've been wondering how is manga reading on those? Does it look good? And do they have enough internet capabilities nowadays so that I could for example go on some ftp site to download a .zip file with manga inside and just start reading, without connecting it to the PC?

Could anyone who's done a similar thing share his experience?

Most readers won't support cbr/cbz but you can use Calibre to convert them into an acceptable format.
>>
>>57997615
how about just .zip? though i guess that's pretty much what .cbz is.

Same thing.

>Most readers won't support cbr/cbz
You mean kindles don't support cbz/cbr

OP, get a kobo. You're not going to be having much fun converting manga to .mobi and not having expandable storage.

so in the end it doesn't matter what i get, if i mostly care about ebooks and if i'll think about putting a comic on it i'll need to go through some converting on pc anyhow?

>>57997697
hmm thanks, i'll look into it. like i said, it doesn't have to be a kindle, it's just what's synonymous with e-reader for a layman like me. any model in particular i should check out?
>>
>>57997726
If you're intent on reading manga go for a larger model. Screen size is important when reading manga, but not when reading text. Also most kobos have internal expandable storage- IE you pop it open and the internal storage is just a microSD too.
>>
For manga (and other comics) it's more important to have decent resolution. Also, Kobo are more open and shit.

it's just supposed to be a bonus i've thought of

i see 7-8inch models are like twice as expensive, i'll need to think on this

>>57997751
open as in free software?

ok thanks everyone, i think enough now

>open as in free software?
Not really I think, just that it's easier to put your own software on it. Not necessarily free as in you can see their source code. Though I don't really know the specifics.

Is this coming to the states? I love how fast the pages turn.

Although it is 6 inches and from what other anons said, it wouldnt be great for manga.

>No mention of resolution
lmao.
>>
There are some programs to convert manga so it looks/works better. It looks okay, it will be better depending on how high the resolution and screen size on the device you get is. Personally even though I have a fairly decent unit (Kobo H2O) I still prefer to read manga on my tablet since I much prefer the bigger screen and nice crisp lines that a LCD screen can give.

Posted this in the last thread but no response.

How does KOreader work? I may buy the old model from my neighbor that has physical buttons and I want to know if I can even get it on there.>pic related

All this has is a new firmware and a larger storage capacity. I'm pretty sure the regular Paperwhite can do the sane once it gets that update. Not sure how much the average manga volume takes up though.

If anyone has a paperwhite, does the internal memory actually have 4Gb or 3.1 like most devices?
