My last laptop died and I'm in urgent need, the guide in the wiki pointed me towards this but I want to know what you guys think personally.

I'm a college student, psych and bio major, primary needs being writing and heavy data / image processing in matlab. Maybe some light gaming but I don't anticipate having too much time for that plus my friend just got me a ps4

Since this is in such short notice my budget is super low, imagine the price of this is around my upper limit

If you don't like lenovo get a Dell (latitude and XPS are what you're looking for). Elitebooks are quite praised but I've been burned by HP so many times that they lost all of their good boi points by me... Check out asus too. They have some issues with customer support but quality is really good.
