I have been buying them for years just because of the warranty. If the drive takes a shit I want to be compensated for the time it takes to several terabytes of backups.

So I buy Samsung x50 Pros for the 10 year warranties, and WD Blacks for the 5 year warranties.

I've had probably a dozen WD Blacks, only two failures. One came DOA (after NewEgg stopped shipping them in foam), the other one failed after 4 years of use and was replaced in a few days.
