Using Clean install Windows 10:
>Latest update broke control panel
>Cannot set default apps anymore
>Regedit to stop silent install apps does not work anymore
>Regedit changes are not honored by Windows anymore
>Two version of OneDrive (Windows/Office 365) clashing with each other
>Remove Metro apps, Store reinstalls them quietly
>No way to edit fonts and other metrics like Windows 7
>No way to edit the appearance of the OS aside from shitty color schemes
>Games give better fps on Windows 10, no choice but to use it
>Windows 7 and 8.1 cannot update anymore, no choice but to use it

Using Clean install Windows 7:
>Checking for updates for a week, still nothing
>Instantly notice graphic drivers undperforming for some reason
>Cannot install DirectX June 2010 Redist, constantly gives error
>DirectX and Visual C++ 2008/2010 clash with each other, Microshit never told users
>UI looks beautiful but without security updates and .NET framework cannot use Office 365 and other modern software
>Use WSUS to run updates, it stays stuck at listing ID's for updates for a week as well
>Manually install certain updates, Windows detects updates but system becomes unstable and constantly goes into a reboot loop with BSOD

Using clean Install Windows 8.1:
>Touchpad and control panel settings reset with each reboot
>Create new admin user, it has no privilege to right click on desktop icons
>Disk cleanup takes 8 hours and CPU/Motherboard heat up to 78C with fan going crazy
>Host of other glitches that have not been fixed despite years of updates
>UI is cancerous, Metro apps are garbage, Store does not work like Windows 10

Using Clean install Ubuntu 16.10:
>No Office 365, no gaymes
>Losing 50-70% of fps
>System is unstable, constantly throwing errors
>Wifi/Bluetooth not detected, forced to use ethernet on laptop
>Net keeps disconnecting for some reason
>System throws pci_fifo_underrrun errors on each reboot

Why are modern operating systems so shit?

Windows 7 cannot be updated anymore on clean installs. They have sabotaged the update system.
>>
Have you tried installing gentoo, then turning it off and back on again?
>>
>>57929765
For Windows 7...

1. Are you using the offline installer for the DirectX 9.0c June 2010 redistribute? It is a 95.6 MB .exe.

2. For the Windows updates, refer to this: https://www.extremetech.com/computing/228779-microsoft-releases-unofficial-service-pack-for-windows-7

Note that the unofficial service pack requires SP1 to already be installed, and some KB update from 2015 I forget the name of.

Lastly make sure to install KB3138612, the Windows update client update for March 2016.

Also, you should be able to use the offline installer for .NET Framework 4.6.1 after you do this.
>>
>>57929765
Just install 16.04, forgo unity. Xfce or mate. x.10 versions after a lts release are always garbage.
>>
>>57929765
Windows 7 sp1 (the one that you usually download) has a known problem, you need to do a series of manual updates to make windows update work
>>
>>57929828
I have Windows 7 SP1 Professional.

I just install the convenience rollup 3125574 and update normally? Is that it?

Never had problems with Win 7 or 8.1. In your case, check if the problem is between the keyboard and the chair. W10 is shit, I know
>>
>>57929871

use the monthly rollups to update

OP here, I know that feel. But the recent cumulative update broke the control panel.

I can no longer change default apps or block shit like Minecraft and Facebook auto installing on my system.

idiots like you are the reason why companies like microsoft can do what thay want.
>>
>>57929765

Try the 2015 LTSB. It is the least buggy version in my experience. The 2016 LTSB and Server 2016 builds are atrocious though
>>
The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.
>>
Holy shit op where did you get that background I must know
>>
>>57929765

Time for a MAC OP.

Just works.
>>
I feel you OP
>clean instal win10
>driver problems
>random bsods
>random weird errors with taskbar, control panel, start menu, fucking clock
>updates do nothing
and what's really bugging me is that it was literally the best OS I've ever used until like August when some critical big update came out and destroyed everything
