>Want to buy an IPS monitor with fast response time
>All of them are directed at "gamers"
>look ugly as fuck
Why? Why can't I just have a normal sleek office monitor with an IPS panel, 1ms response time, and 144hz refresh rate? Why does it have to look like some weird alien object from fucking Mars?
This being said, what monitor does /g/ recommend? It has to be IPS
>>57928266
Id recommend that one. Its fantastic. You dont notice the base when you are using it.
>>57928266
>All of them are directed at "gamers"
What the fuck else are you planning to do with a gsync monitor you fucking retard?
>>57928266
barring IPS those are gamer features and marketed as such
>>57928302
THE POINT IS THAT THEY LOOK LIKE SHIT
>IM A GAMER THEREFORE MY MONITOR HAS TO LOOK LIKE A TOY
It's BULLSHIT
I can't have fast response times unless my monitor looks like it was made by aliens? wtf?
>>57928302
he'll no doubt play games with it
>>57928302
I was going to ask the same.
>>57928333
well yes as it being used an office monitor is a waste of a lot of money.
>>57928266
>This being said, what monitor does /g/ recommend? It has to be IPS
I recommend not buying a monitor at the current point in time. Monitors are long-term investments, and investing in IPS when OLED is around the corner is just wasteful.
>>57928320
>high refresh rate is a gamer feature
Yes, let's prevent monitor tech from advancing because “any better would only be relevant for gamers amirite?”
Personally I would just love to have a 120 Hz display so I can watch both 24 Hz and 60 Hz content without judder
>>57928332
if a red light and a wide base really means that fucking much to you then I recommend you do some research and realize that the vesa standard exists
>>57928302
he never mentioned gsync
>>57928396
>he
Love when OP does this
Get a Dell 144hz monitor, doesn't have any of the "gamer design" drawbacks. That's what I'm planing on doing anyway... unless there's something I don't know about them that makes them undesirable, really strange that dell monitors are not discussed here at all.
>>57928396
it's kinda in the pic you posted m8
>>57928409
perfection itself
>>57928380
They look like toys, and often have shit build quality
The only hope of having decent build quality and normal looks is to buy standard 60hz 6+ms monitors without any "gamer features" like G-SYNC (Which is tons better than the old VSync, FPS doesn't suffer)
>bought a refurbished xf270hu
>came with a perfect panel with no backlight bleed or dead pixels
best feeling ever. now i just need to buy a colorimeter to get a decent color profile.
>>57928396
the majority of 1440p/144hz panels come with gsync/freesync, even the TN ones.
>>57928420
>Picture
Forgot to mention that's an Eizo FlexScan EV2750, which is what I'm planning to buy
There's a good monitor, insane build quality and looks sexy as fuck. No bleeding, super accurate colors, and 5 year warranty. I don't even care that it doesn't have gamer features.
>>57928420
I have the pb278q version, they dont feel cheap at all. In fact build wise they feel solid.
Have you got one or owned one? or you just pulling shit from the sky
>>57928363
How long has OLED been "around the corner" by now?
>>57928436
do you ever wrap your foreskin around your entire face and just inhale?
>>57928424
>the majority of 1440p/144hz panels come with gsync/freesync, even the TN ones.
maybe new ones do. but most high hz monitors out there don't have that.
anyway, calling them "gsync monitors" is just stupid.
it's like calling high ppi screens "retina". actually no, more stupid than that.
>>57928454
Most high ones do. Are you just posting bollocks for bait?
>>57928454
retina isn't a tangible feature it's just a descriptor made by apple for describing a screen over 306 dpi.
gsync is a premium feature advertised directly towards gamers and is too new of a technology to consider mainstream in any way whatsoever.
do you just go around pointing at things calling them stupid?
>>57928461
they don't. example
www.benq.com/product/monitor/gaming/
gsync costs more. that alone is enough to not include it by default.
>>57928415
>really strange that dell monitors are not discussed here at all.
they used to be all the rage
newfags too old to remember the glory days of the U2410
>>57928467
>retina isn't a tangible feature it's just a descriptor made by apple for describing a screen over 306 dpi.
No, it's for describing a screen with a 1 px/am target. You don't need 300 dpi for that except maybe on phones.
A 150 dpi panel, for example, becomes ‘retina’ at 70 cm distance. Personally I think the 1 px/am target is a very good one and more people should try to hit it.
>>57928505
>newfags too old
too young*
>>57928266
>caring what the stand on your monitor looks like
A whole new degree of autism.
>>57928496
>the majority
>most high ones do
>listing a single brand as a counterexample
do you even remember why you're arguing this line of conversation?
>>57928396
'he' meaning 'OP' directly mentioned gsync by posting a picture of a gsync monitor.
gsync is a gamer-oriented feature. it's really fucking expensive. if you want it then you should buy it. if you're an autist who requires business aesthetics in their gaming rig then you should stop complaining and buy a benq or dell gsync monitor or just get a vesa mount
>>57928266
I need 144hz to look at /g/ all day and all my child porn.
>>57928564
>listing a single brand as a counterexample
It's an example, not a definite proof, you doofus. Which is still more than you've produced so far.
>>57928578
You never asked anyone for a list of ones that did have gsync you moron.(Benq do have gsync ones by the way)
Fucking hell you autistic cunt, just dont buy this ok.
Go buy a shitty fucking "office" one and trawl this site all day.
>>57928578
so someone says most icecream tastes good and you pick orange juice and toothpaste flavor to prove him wrong?
just because you show a list of 120hz monitors doesn't mean that the (over 50%) majority of 144 and above monitors don't have gsync.
I guess if you want business class gsync that's why Dell exists. To bring you the worst of the highest end products in the current year.
>>57928607
>just because you show a list of 120hz monitors doesn't mean that the (over 50%) majority of 144 and above monitors don't have gsync.
Doesn't mean they do, either.
>>57928620
Many wont get the irony in that picture. A decent monitor with a poorly optimised game on it!
>>57928564
>'he' meaning 'OP' directly mentioned gsync by posting a picture of a gsync monitor.
>a gsync monitor
you're doing it again.
let me go slower, because it's clear you have aspergers:
just because that specific monitor happens to have gsync (how can anyone tell unless they're an expert on that) doesn't mean that OP is buying a "gsync monitor" or that he cares about gsync in any way.
all he said is that he's looking for a 144hz ips that doesn't look like gaymur shit.
>>57928637
Again why are you posting "he" when you are OP?
Also generally most people look at products in some detail before buying (especially at these prices),
>>57928637
last time I checked I'm more hung up on the fact that you're looking for a GSYNC monitor that doesn't have an LED in the base, OP.
Which one of us really has aspergers?
>>57928678
>"I want a monitor with 144Hz..."
>GSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNCGSYNC
I'm guessing neither you nor the OP has aspergers, but you're clearly retarded in some other way.
>>57928695
says OP who's sucking OP's dick
>>57928695
Well some come with freesync too.
Also OP do you have a pc capable of using these? if not you are seriously wasting money.
>>57928266
That's just the stand. replace it you cunt. I haven't used the default stand in years.
>>57928436
>Eizo FlexScan EV2750
>60 fps
neck yourself
>>57928695
you know who you remind me of by the way?
a little guy called OP.
>>57928332
he uses all caps a lot like you.
>>57928332
It's just the stand you stupid twat
Get a new stand, look up vesa mounts.
>>57928266
Buy it and use an aftermarket stand you fucking retard.
Funny how FS monitors look better.
>>57928266
Bro, the only thing that looks "gamer" on that monitor is the stand. It's not like the monitor comes with that background pre-installed. Just replace the stand (incredibly easy to do), get an arm that attaches to your desk or something. Sure, it costs extra, but you'll be able to reuse it whenever you get a new monitor.
>>57928266
foris FS2735
if you want a good freesync.... they dropped in price too iirc.
Still expensive tho...
Or wait for this fucker and hope it turns out good
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-34-Inch-Widescreen-Monitor-C34F791/dp/B01M1D7JVO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481383433&sr=8-1&keywords=Samsung+C34F791
It's VA panel btw but looks really promising
>>57928436
Get the Foris fs2735, very sturdy doesn't wobble, very good default settings, very good response time & input lag etc.
but it's expensive and no gsync(if thats a problem)
>>57929643
>using the term "bro" unironically
They just know their target audience.
Have you given thought to the idea that it might be time to grow out of gaming?
>>57928332
lg monitors look pretty slick and have gamur features now, put your money where your mouth is, ASUS is a chinkshit corp so it's only natural for them
>>57928266
>IPS
>1ms
>144hz
Is that even possible with its tech ?
