Who here does tier 1 tech support? What is your day to day like?
I have an interview coming up for tier 1 at a web hosting company and need to know what I should study up on.
I do technical support for a financial software, and have done Tier 2 support for another financial software in the past. It really depends on what your product is, amd how it works. My current job is more challenging, but my last job was more frustrating. Ultimately, no matter what product you're going o be using, networking is going to have to happen. So look into how that works. That, and user permissions.

you should study the terrible life decisions that led you to a tier 1 tech support job

Neat, what parts were frustrating?
The company does web hosting, domain registration, etc.

Is it that bad? I already help tons of people online and family/friends with their tech issues for free
and enjoy it
Really depends on what you're supporting... Some mainstream stuff used by normies and old people == run away. Enterprise or engineering stuff used by smart people == maybe not that bad. Since you're on /g/ you're probably smart enough to start at tier 2 though.

I'm hoping since it's web hosting it's not complete idiots I'm dealing with.
I have no certs or degrees, figured I could get my foot in the door this way, grab some certs and job hop to something better
