Should I care about G-SYNC / FREESYNC?
I'm going to replace my current monitor (it has a broken display port, still in warranty) and I figured I would add some money and get a "professional" monitor with accurate colors and decent build quality.
I found one with 6ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate, from what I know having 1ms response time and/or 120-144hz refresh rate is mostly a meme, so I guess I don't care about those too much... I don't even play professionally anymore so whatever
What about these gsync/freesync features though? It seems like they help with screen tearing when the screen refresh rate and game FPS are very out of sync, but we've managed this long without them, so is this also another placebo meme?
cozy pic unrelated
I'd go for a high refresh rate (120hz+) before adaptive sync.

Would I REALLY notice it though? Would my eyes really see the difference? I doubt it...
I can't seem to find many good (and non-ugly) monitors with that refresh rate anyway

I had a buddy who bought into the gsync meme, it's honestly barely noticeable. Certainly not worth the price premium on the monitors. Haven't tried freesync but the monitors for that are cheap at least.
Honestly vsync is going to be good enough for most people

Thanks for confirming, I always felt it was a meme
I'd rather have a decent quality screen with accurate colors than some placebo 2ms for when I play 30 minutes of CSGO

I have a freesync 144hz. Honestly if you have a good cpu, you will notice a huge difference man. Night and day. I can't go back to 60hz or 75hz. My eyes kinda bother

Where did you find this ghotl?

How is that relevant? I hope you meant GPU, otherwise I don't think I can take you seriously bro...
How do your eyes bother? Sounds to me like you're suffering from placebo and buyers remorse

G sync free sync won't make things look better, if you have screen tearing it fixes it. If you don't, it doesn't do much
I say yes on high refresh rate though, it makes a bigger difference than high res imo (although 1440p 144hz is nice)

When I show my friends the monitor they don't even notice it's higher res, but the Hz is really nice on the eyes. I can tell between a 20hz difference even up to 144hz if I focus, but during gameplay anything above 100hz looks sufficiently smooth for me
