How do you guys justify spending so much money on a phone?
They cost as much a desktop now and you can't even reuse the parts..!
>>
I don't, I have a Z3c and will have it for the foreseeable future.
>>
but my phone costs 130 dollars

I got an SE for 300, about as much as my laptop which I don't use half as much, and less than half the price of my desktop. Don't see the issue.
>>
My phone cost $157.99.

My parents pay for all my "necessities" (phone, food, clothes, etc.) because I'm a worthless fuck up who's going to kill himself as soon as they get fed up and kick me out
>>
>>57897572
My phone costs €90
>>
I don't either. I'm using a $40 backup phone right now and waiting for my $200 phone to come in.
>>
Don't upgrade every time you're eligible. Do your research, get a quality product and it'll last you a while.

My phone (Galaxy S5) was $50 with a 2 year contract extension. No need to upgrade it, thing is running fine.

Just replaced my laptop that I bought 7 years ago with what would be an $1,800 machine. Got it refurbished for $900. Dell XPS 15.

I normally get 3-4 years out of a phone and 6-10 out of a laptop. I don't pay full price for either, but I will spend money on a quality product as opposed to a shit one so that it lasts me.
>>
>>57897572
There are a lot of ads for them and if people see me with an expensive phone they will think better of me.
>>
>>57897572
>you can't even reuse the parts
Shenzhen proves you wrong.

Also
>he doesn't buy phones from china
>>
>being poor

>>
>>57897572
I buy a phone every 5 - 7 years depending when it breaks so I can justify a 400-500€ phone as long as it will be durable in both materials and specs.
>>
>>57898164
This, it's called an investment.
>>
>>57898164
Same. I actually still even use S5.
>>
>>57898164
10 years out of a laptop? jesus fuck if I was using a 2006 laptop I'd cut myself. and a 2010 one is even pushing it. must be nice not needing power in your mobile devices. i held onto my 2009 thinkpad till 2013, and in the next year or two i'll probably replace this one if new chips actually provide value, we'll see
i get about 3 years out of a phone before i start feeling like its bad, but since I got a 6P with my last choice I think it'll last longer, thing is a beast and for the first time I'm so happy not being locked into a verizon+samsung phone
>>
>>57898164
Want to help a former NEET out replacing his laptop from 2007? I don't play games and just want it for browsing music and movies
>>
I buy one when it breaks. Although I'm gonna buy the mercury even though my Nexus 6p isn't broken because that thing looks great.
>>

>>
>>57899450
Dude then you're literally fine for fucking every laptop made nowadays. If you don't play video games and all you do is browsing and music and movies, you've got it made.

Hell, it wouldn't be PLEASANT, but even a newer atom processor would be good enough for you.
>>
Because I can afford it and it makes me happy.
>>
>>57897572
It's called a good job and phone money is chump change fuck boy
>>
But I have an Xperia M and it only cost $60.

Yeah but paying for over priced goods makes you a chump

>This is what people with subconscious minds actually believe
>>
New phone every year and it is 100% tax write off.
>>
>>57899378
Doing a factory restore on the phone helps it maintain speed. It's not bad, you're just used to it/it's slowed down a bit
>>
>>57899969
This is what I'm going to be doing once I have my LLC formed in a couple weeks. God bless the USA
>>
I don't. $100 for a phone MAX.

Had an LG realm for about 2 years I got for $60 and now currently own a Samsung J7 I got for $90 on black friday. Can't remember what phones I had before that but they were mostly flip phones or had slide out keyboards.

Spent all the money I saved on an i7-5960X + R9 280 PC build. OC'd the i7 to 4.6 GHz with an H100i water cooler. Currently waiting on the Rx 490 to upgrade my GPU.
>>
Mine cost €250 its an barely used Galaxy A5 2016, its overpriced, I could have gone with a redmi 4 prime, but this has AMOLED and Galaxy care, and it feels really solid/premium when using it. Touchwiz is compeletely shit tho and no Cyanogen support for midend devices also sucks, but eventually some pajeet will code an unofficial one anyways. Overall Im happy with this phone, I would never buy a new flagship, only an used one. It just costs too much.
>>
>>57898009
Just finished high school and now I am literally a neet. Tell what I should do to avoid becoming like you.

>>57897572
I got my HTC One M9 off contract for $300.

Get compTIA A+ certified you losers. That's what I did and now have a job of helping fix/repair computers at a shop. Pretty fun half the time tbqh.

Also I dropped out of high school and never got my GED as well. I'm very certain you faggots with a HS diploma will have an easier time finding work if you also get that cert.
>>
>>57898528
>investment
You're not ever getting more money in return for it, so it's not an actual investment.
>>
>>57897572
My phone was only £100 anon.

Moto G masterrace.
>>
>>57899450
Just get any business grade laptop, new or used, with the size / specs you want.
>>
>>57897572
Only phones I buy are the Nexus phones. My shitty old Nexus 4 just got Android 7.1 update other day through Cyanogenmod thus is still functional, and my Nexus5x works with Jewggle's project-FI so I only spend $20/month in fees to use it outside my home network.

I spent $250 to buy a Nexus 5X of craigslist and my Nexus 4 at the time came free through a carrier bullshit plan that long expired
>>
>implying

Motorola cranks out pretty good phones for $300 or less every year and they don't intentionally gimp them with lack of 3.5mm jack or sd slot A E S T H E T I C S are great as well.

Do an AM1 build. For $150 you can get a wayyy better deal than some used laptop throttling to 1 GHz that's going to die in a few days the moment you use get it.
>>
>>57897572
I could spend less with Windows phone

Oh wait it has no apps
>>
>>57898164
So basically you're saying to buy second hand things after a new version comes out and that product loses "value"
>>
>>57897572
I bought a phone for 500 euros almost 4 years ago. It's getting time to replace it.

My job bought my phone for me. They set a budget at ~1 000 American Euros.

So why not get a nice phone? It's part of the perks of the job.
>>
>>57897572
My first and only smartphone is a galaxy note 2 I got in 2012. I don't see why I should change. Looks like a one time purchase to me.
>>
>>57897590
I said the same, usb connection crapped out and wifi started to drop randomly. Fun fact, I always used the magnetic connector to charge it since I got it, found out it was dead when wifi was acting out and I wanted to transfer some files. I'm really pissed with it because otherwise the phone looks like it's new.
>>
>>57897572
I don't live with my parents and have to save up good boy points to buy expensive things. I work for my own money. So I don't have to justify spending anything.
>>
>>57903734
Had no problems since launch day.
I only miss the fantastic power saving mode the phone had and lost with marshmallow, but that's Google's fault.
>>
But I only spent $200 and my phone's better than any $600+ phone

I spent roughly 140€ on my Nokia dumbphone. Got it brand new and it has seen 5+ years of use, still in good shape. Now I wouldn't mind spending twice as much on a really good phone, but they're all so fricking huge and fragile they throw me off.
>>
>>57900187
Is this a good career path? My local votec is offering an A+ Certification. The site also says that I could expect a decent wage.
>>
>>57903801
I'm annoyed because I was waiting for another compact phone to switch to. After some shuffling around I ended with a brand new OnePlus 2, phone is really nice and I like a lot the oxygenos rom it has. I would kill for this to be at least half inch smaller but I'm liking it a lot so far and feels built like a tank.
It's a shame Sony keeps shitting the bed with the new lineups and seems it's trying hard to screw it up. X Compact is a disgrace and ZX isn't worth the asking price.
You know shit is bad when Apple with the iPhone SE has come and made a better overall phone (still expensive) but if you can stand Apple shit it's great.
>>
My phone cost $199 brand new. Nexus 5X.

I would not have upgraded from my S5 if Sprint didn't charge a fortune for the plan. Now I use Project Fi for $20 per month.

S5 is still working just fine, and I plan to keep the 5X for probably 10 years unless a freak accident happens.

do you live in a right-to-work state?

if so, move because your wages will never be good in almost any Profession.

if not, go to local union halls and fill out aPPrenticeshiP aPPlications to become a Plumber, Electrician, CarPenter etc. They will tyPically Pay for your schooling if you agree to stay working in the union as a journeyman for as many years as your aPPrenticehsiP was. Earnings are like 50-90k dePending on the trade as a journeyman
