Why are there so many iPhone users now?

I remember when Android dominated the market share. Now most of my friends and peers have iPhones
>>
Idunno lol

Maybe because they aren't as expensive anymore.
>>
People realize that Android OS is a fucking meme

>shit performance, even with twice the RAM & CPU power of an iphone
>not reliable like an iphone
>bloatware
>some apps like Snapchat have more features/work better on iPhone, while the Android version is a shitty port
>no iMessage
>Android flagships like Samsung are a fucking joke when it comes to the build of their phones compared to Apple

Apple has always hovered around 12-20% of the handset market share. It only seems like more because the non Apple/Samsung part of the market is split between dozens of device makers. So you're more likely to see an Apple or Samsung logo than any other.

Possibly add to that, the once strong Nokia and Blackberry segments have withered away, making the otherwise steady Apple segment look like it grew.
>>
>>57891102
For me, they just work and see Android as a toy.
>>
People that have an actual productive role in society use Apple products.
>>
>>57891336
I work with electrical engineers and not a single one owns or uses an Apple product.

Also the iPhone design has remained pretty consistent, even the "plus" model is just a bigger looking version. Other handset makers may have multiple disparate looking devices. Three Huawei owners might be sitting around you, but it'll look like three different phones to your eyes.
>>
>>57891102

did you happen to move out of a flyover state, begin attending a proper four-year uni, get a promotion at work, etc? Maybe that's why you're noticing fewer of your peers using Android.

We're not talking about greasy illegal beaners and niggers with their boost mobile $50 Android phones. We're talking about productive people in society.
>>
Top Android phones are too expensive now.

The Pixel and Galaxy are now just as and more expensive than the iphone, because they're trying to market themselves as higher class.

They're also copying the iPhone to the point of why bothering. The pixel is an iPhone clone and the next Galaxy has already shown it won't have a 3.5 jack and it looks like an iphone.

The oneplus phones got another price increase too, so expect the oneplus 5 to be ~$600 next year

>>57891492

Those are global numbers, so the vast majority are poojets and chinks

What is the distribution is just the US among whites.
>>
>>57891438

Basically this. Android flagships are now reaching iphone prices without the iOS stability, support and ecosystem.

>>
>>57891102
What country? iPhone market share is going down in the US.
>>
>>57891631
>the next Galaxy has already shown it won't have a 3.5 jack

Yeah but iPhone doesn't have the following
>native file explorer
>drag and drop usb
>support for FLAC
>support for any fucking video extension not .mp4
>expandable memory
>affordable high capacity options
>easily obtainable OEM parts
>the ability to install packages from outside the default repository.
>root access.
>etc
I know you are gonna say retards don't care about these things. But they don't care about anything you mentioned either. It's really a coinflip for retards. And Android seems a no brainer for everyone else.

Bullshit 3 of my buddies in the army had iphones either 5 or 6 in all of them their touchscreen didnt respond at all most of the time
and of course you cant remove the battery for reset so good luck waiting for the battery to die while people call you.
>>
Because they opened it up to more carriers than just AT&T and those carriers got more aggressive with their deals for iPhones. It's no longer the richfag's phone.

It doesn't always have to be an exploit. Even if it is you have control over which applications have access to root. Obviously if you're not a dumbfuck you're not going to give it to random apps. One example for me was the Asiana Airlines app, it requested root and of course I didn't approve it.

Because in 2016 Android is still slow and laggy. The Pixel gets blown out in synthetic and real world benchmarks by even the 6S.

I use a 16gb Galaxy S5 in 2016. It has a 128gb shark card in it. I don't have to use iTunes to sync my music to it. I like that. I only paid $200 for it to replace my old LG G2 with a fucked up screen. I didn't have to sign a contract with a carrier. My monthly bill is cheap because I'm on an MVNO.

While everybody else participates in a lame dick waving contest bragging about how much they spent, or coming up with some lame excuses about how they didn't pay retail when it's factored into their monthly bill anyhow I'm laughing. Phone performance hasn't truly improved that much. Each new generation pushed out is just an incremental improvement. Yet you're running the same fucking apps you ran on it two years ago.

Enjoy getting memed retards. This goes for both sides.

You don't need to study it on a component level. You just need to have a basic understanding of how it works. Schools should be teaching these things to the next generation.

Those two things can be compared very easily too. In both cases you're trusting your privacy and security to somebody else without giving it a second thought. There needs to be some awareness. Like, well, I don't know. Maybe instead of Donald Trump/Hillary Clinton memes people should share pictures of skimmers on Facebook and tell others to look out for them. Maybe it should be explained to people that the naked selfie they send on Snapchat can be saved without their knowledge by anyone with a rooted OR JAILBROKEN (had to emphasize that this applies to your precious common man's phone you Maoist sounding faggot, eat a dick) phone.

Things like Ashley Madison and PSN happened in a vacuum but there's very little in the way of preventing something big that could apply to everyone including me. That's why I'm wary of the things I do. I am a normal person with friends. I have a Facebook. I've sent dick pics over the internet, sure. I'm fully aware that somebody might see them some day and I don't really care. Many people do though, and they have a right to know someone might see them.

My iphone has the longest lasting battery I've experienced in real world conditions, hard proper hardware encryption, so I'll continue to support them. And every year I can sell the previous one and buy a brand new one with little more than $100 because of the value they hold without dropping like a fucking tank.

All my songs are on spotify, even then my 128gb has a few lists downloaded automatically for when reception drops. No idea why I would bother downloading individual songs off the net anymore.

The newest update removing the headset has pissed me off, that's about it.

Screen is also incredibly cheap to replace compared to Samsungs.
>>
>>57893633

>longest lasting battery I've experienced in real world conditions

Yeah, because all you use is iPhones, dumbass. Any phone with a hot swappable battery btfo any iPhone. To say nothing of the fact that iPhones STILL don't have fucking fast charging 5 years after its been out.

>proper hardware encryption

What's the fucking point if everything gets backed up to the icloud anyway? If you're talking about your stupid icloud lock, Samsung has had a similar feature for 5 years now.

>muh resale value

I guess retards overpaying for old tech is a good deal for people selling their iPhones. It's not such a good deal when you're the one overpaying for the old tech though.

>muh cloud storage

Almost everyone in burgerland is stuck overpaying for service with a 5gb cap. Anyone who uses their phone extensively has bandwidth issues. It's ridiculous that iPhone still won't include a 5¢ SD card slot because they want to make extra money on retards like you who pay $5 for every extra gb of internal storage.

Fuck off. It's all about the shekels. As long as retards like you will pay 200 dollars more for 60 extra gbs of storage, they won't include an SD card slot. It's also a convenient way to push their (((cloud))) bullshit and rack up bandwidth for the cell phone companies they partner with. They'd rather fuck you three different ways than spent 5 cents more a unit to have a chink kid solder on an SD card adapter.

That wasn't even me, its late and I can't be bothered to explain how dumb you are. Its all about the OS's handling of removable media. It is a clusterfuck. Expandable storage these days only appeals to autists who want to carry their whole music library at all times and are too dumb to realize $/GB with internal storage and SD cards is barely any different. The price of the actual NAND between storage tiers is pretty much sold at cost. It is more expensive than SD storage of course because its obviously much better, any internal storage beats SD performance.

>obviously much better

There's absolutely no discernable difference between class 10 and NAND for the average user. If there were no profit motive for the company in selling their higher capacity phones, then they would have every incentive to just put out phones with 32gb NAND for the ROM and critical apps, and a microSD slot for everything else. This would significantly simplify manufacturing and reduce the required stock on hand by hundreds of millions of dollars.

They're making money on these "upgraded" units, loads of it.

lmao brings up the average user

you know what the average user doesn't give a shit about?

sd cards

or finding out why half the shit is on SD card in some shitty ad ridden file browser app and half on the phone

At my work they crash at least 3x a day and have to be switched off with the power-home button combo.
Sure our shitty apps are at fault, but any OS that can be easily crashed by an app that has a busy waiting while in it (not my fault and not something I can change) is a shitty, unstable os

>finding out half the shit is on an SD card

How exactly would the find out? SD card failure rates are on par with NAND. To say nothing of the perk for costumers or being able to plug in their old microSD card into their new phone and have all their files *just werk*.

>ad ridden file browser app

u wut? Nobody uses the file browser to find songs.

It's bizarre. You act as though this can't be done. Virtually every phone until 2010 had a microSD card slot. It was only cut when cell phone companies realized the money that could be made by overcharging customers for storage.
>>

did you even read

wtf you talking about sd card failure rates

im talking about half the users shit would be on sd cards depending on app preferences

average users dont get this shit

its the exact reason google removed them they said its a fragmented experiance

and in most cases you would need a file browser to check the card
>>
>>57895483

>(((fragmented experience)))

There's absolutely no scenario where an average user would know the difference between the two.

Media players scan the whole system for files, so there's no need for a file browser there. I've rarely needed the file browser and I'm something of a power user.

>half the users shit would be on a microSD card

I don't understand this argument. How is this worse than having all of the users data on internal storage?

Hell, the new version of Android has a (((feature))) that lets you merge the SD into internal storage so there is practically no difference from a users perspective.

You're really not making any valid arguments as to why banning microSD cards benefits anyone except for cell phone manufacturers and network providers pushing their overpriced "upgrades" and (((cloud storage))).

The blind are leading the blind. I was hoping for >50 IQ from Samsung, but I guess I gave them too much credit.
>>
>>57891631
>Those are global numbers

How is no one understanding this? In the US iOS has hovered around 40% market share for some time.

Additionally if you compare Apple's market share against other smartphone _hardware_ manufactures they are the leader. They retain the same ~40% share (as all Apple mobile devices run iOS) with the next competitor Samsung having roughly ~27% of users.

Androids strength is its "openness" but it's also its biggest weakness. The platform is disconnected. It is entirely possible (and likely) to go out and purchase a several hundred dollar phone and it turn out to be garbage, or lacking reasonable support. There have been many fantastic android devices over the last few years but it represents a small percentage of the overwhelming number of available devices running the OS.

tl;dr There aren't bad iPhones, only old ones.

>there are no bad iPhones

The iPhone isn't especially good. It represents a bland high-end smartphone that *just werks* so long as you buy into their (((ecosystem))) and don't expect to be able to use it for anything except stuff a normie would.

Like iPhones.

I honestly don't know what you're talkin about. If you look at the numbers, iOS marketshare fell and androids share grew.
Well, there are obviously differences in marketshare depending on the country, but here in germany, only the hipster wannabe itgirls have iPhones while 70% of the class has xperias, huaweis and sumsangs. US fags will always get iPhones though, not unexpected of a country with an IQ below 100 in most states.

Inability to install apps from outside the store is my main issue. The app store itself is too limited, but I can accept that. I run both the play store and f-droid on my phone and I still have to get Firefox Nightly separately. No app store is perfect. I really do need a good keyboard, terminal, ability to ssh, and a good web browser as my bare minimum, though. I use the fuck out of juicessh, Firefox Nightly, and SwiftKey.

Where I live I've seen a raise in windows phones instead. Still not the majority, but I think they're in the 20%
