so /g/, I would like some advice on what brand mobo I should get between msi, Gigabyte, Asus and ASRock. strengths, weaknesses, quality in hardware, software, etc.
Supermicro

Gigabyte a shit.
I like Gigabyte and MSI. Asus gaming mobos are memes but good
I've never had an Asus or gigabyte motherboard die on me
I've heard asrock boards used to be shit but have really turned their name around the last couple years and are great for their price
I worked as a hardware technician in a pc shop 8 years ago and saw a lot of failed msi stuff so I've always steered clear of them

>Advice between companies
Honestly so many people are going to come on complaining about experiences they had with various companies and their motherboards with no major correlation or consistency other than "shit happens".
That being said, the two go to trustworthy companies I hear generally better things from is ASUS and Gigabyte in terms of customer service and reliability.
MSI's customer service overall I've heard is pretty shitty but their products can be pretty to really good.
ASRock I heard was formed from all the old people who used to work at ASUS. I've heard fewer bad things about them over the years.
Also lol I have the same motherboard except it doesn't have gamershit all over it.

They got out of the consumer motherboard market awhile back and are now focused on embedded/industrial business. Shame really. At least ECS is still kicking it, somehow.
Modern mobo vendors these days all seem to be afraid of any colors that aren't BLACK AS MY SOUL.
Mostly, just pay attention to what you're getting for the price. Don't buy anything that has only two memory slots, lacks appropriate VRM passive cooling, has too few VRM phases (research your architecture), or is missing major features or connectors that you need. You don't need "high-end" onboard sound (even cheap sound cards will serve better), a "Killer" LAN, and any other nonsense that will be used to justify high markups on certain gamer and enthusiast-oriented boards.
Msi
If you got msi gpu also

That's because black is neutral, and with more people caring about what their guts look like, a black board will fit into any color scheme.
