I installed linux as dual boot next to windows 10
even installed a wm to look like a hacker from /g/
now what do I do
>>
You're doing it for all the wrong reasons. Just set up your computer in a way that is comfortable for you to use, and then use it. Do whatever it is you use your computer for.
>>
>>57869401
Send me $100. Then come back and ask for further instructions.

There's your problem.
Also, don't listen to /g/. We don't know shit about design, practicality or functionality.

We're willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of being "different" and make fun of someone that is not like us.

Install whichever OS suits your needs best, and make it look however it makes you feel better.

isnt that what all you hackers use?

Get a different terminal emulator. Termite is decent. After that, choose a good monospace font (e.g. terminus 9, tewi 9, lemon 8) and good terminal colors. This site cna help pick out terminal colors: http://terminal.sexy/

Learn to use some good CLI programs such as ranger, irssi, ncmpcpp (must be used with mpd), etc.

You could also rice your Firefox css, although I haven't done much with this so I can't give much advice. I believe desktop threads are technically banned here now, so if you want more info you could maybe get away with asking in /fglt/, otherwise you'll have to go to the desktop threads on /wg/.

>>
you already learned how to install a wm, launch programs from the shell, and use scrot? are you sure you're new to all this? I've got some irl friends who failed to grasp this sort of stuff after quite a while of me trying to help them

you and your friend must have some kind of problem

>Get a different terminal emulator. Termite is decent.
forgot to mention, you'll probably have to change what terminal opens with super-enter in i3. Edit ~/.config/i3/config to change this.

>choose a good monospace font (e.g. terminus 9, tewi 9, lemon 8) and good terminal colors
these will be configured in ~/.config/termite/config after you install termite
>>
>>57869987
I learned some linux commands in college
>you already learned how to install a wm

>launch programs from the shell

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Go ahead and just jump to Fedora and don't waste your time with Ubuntu.

If you use GNOME, it's a much cleaner and more up-to-date experience.
>>
>>57870316
there is GNOME for Ubuntu too
>>
>>57870221
It doesn't trigger /g/ autists as much.
>>
>>57870337
The packages are nowhere near upstream. Fedora has the best GNOME experience. A lot of the GNOME devs are also Fedora devs.
