So what's the best music player for android? I've only been using Google play music and I feel the app is sluggish and the file size is too big? Any recommendations for a lightweight clean player?
>>57860773
Poweramp
>>57860773
PowerAmp (paid) or Vanilla Music (free)
anything else isn't worth it.
VLC, go on, do it faggot.
Phonograph is the fucking best
Poweramp paid is a treat
Paid: poweramp
Free: foobar2000
Free & FOSS: blackplayer
Phonograph and BlsckPlayer

This. Poweramp is fucking goat, I recently started using it and I couldn't be happier with it.
Google Play Music.
>>57860773
I use Double twist and I think it's awesome. Only one I've ever used tho
>>57860849
Ok thanks bros I'll check it out. I guess we can just have a general app thread then. What do you guys think of swipe as a Facebook replacement. It's pretty small and doesn't drain battery like the official app. What other 2nd party app is better than the official?
>>57860887
Lite
also consult the wiki
>>57860928
Reading now. I guess I should have checked it out before making the thread. I heard much about poweramp before but it's hard to tell what's a meme and what people would scary oh recommend. Cheers friend.
>>57860991
Actually *
I have spotify
>>57860773
I'd say Phonograph. I only use that on Android. The UI is also pretty similar to the default music app on my iPad so transitioning between them is no problem at all.
>>57860773
Neutron, everything else is shit.
>don't even have a parametric equalizer or group by album artist
lmao
>>57860808
>>57861087
Just downloaded it because I'm too broke to get paid version of power amp. Seems great and looks clean. Storage is much smaller than Google play music. Thanks for the recommendation.
>>57861132
Any reason why you have not gotten the Google Rewards app and get store credit for a couple of your time every now and then?
I use Shuttle and Google Play Music only when I need to stream something
>>57860773
In my opinion, Blackplayer is the best one m8. It's fully customizable, looks very clean, it's free and it's size ain't big.
Here's the link:

>>57860887
I use faceslim anon.
Also, there is other app on f-droid.
>>57861495
>128kbps
Blackplayer EX works fine for all my needs. Cost me $2. Free version isn't terrible either. No file view though.
>>57861132
tell me there's more of this somewhere
>>57861132
nevermind anon, found her. holy mother of tits.
>>57860773
wanna post that wallpaper op?
VLC is only one that doea not crash on my CM14 bad boy.
AIMP is breddy gud
>>57861178
Neat thanks anon
>>57862758
Does work smoothly indeed. I wish the desktop version were a little nicer I'd use it there too.
Shuttle and phonograph seem pretty much the same to me.
I use mortplayer.
>vaguely related
What's /g/'s favorite picture gallery?
Time for me to move on from QuickPic 4.5
>>57863460
>not foto
I've been using AIMP the past week and my only issue is it lacks a library so I can't just "play only this artist, genre, etc".
Otherwise it's fine since I'm 99% shuffling all my music anyway.
>>57860797
>VLC, go on, do it faggot.
once you realize...
>fuck it, i've given up. nothing will play my file except for this piece of shit
just download vlc already
>>57863835
kodi :^)
>>57860773
Sorta related, my lg g3 periodically pauses my music no matter what app I use, but I only if it's in my pocket. I have it upright in a clamp in my truck and it doesn't have any issues, but if it's laying flat or in my pocket it'll freeze until I turn the screen on. I'm assuming there's some pocket-hibernate mode, but I can't figure out how to turn it off. Any ideas?
>>57863861
how about
>wearing headphones
>start google voice search
>briefly pauses while you talk
>music resumes and blows your ears out
Poweramp if you want features
I don't care bout feauture, I just wanna blast some SICK NOISE
so I prefer PHONOGRAPH
This is a masterpiece of material design, a neverending pleasure to use and to see, a marvelous nifty little app
----> PHONOGRAPH
>>57863999
I like phonograph but the equalizer has presets and you can't set your own EQ values.
>>57860773
Poweramp with Hi-res output.
>>57864318
I don't know how to use an equalizer.
The sound is fine with PHONOGRAPH
However do you think learning to use it would enhance my music experience?

SO
Poweramp OR Blackplayer?
I have poweramp, and it's pretty good, full of features, but the UI is outdated as fuck, and the themes available are mostly shit.
Blackplayer is on par, feature-wise?
>>57865050
PHONOGRAPH
>>57860773
Icon pack?
>>57865237
Squared Niggers
niggerplayer is pretty nice
>>57860773
Black player
BlackPlayer EX. lightweight, customisable, user friendly
>>57860773
Pulsar
>>57860773
I like Eleven but it doesn't seem to work on Touchwiz for some reason
>>57860773
What skin/distro (icons, wallpaper, ...) is that?
>>57865237
not OP but I think it's Acorn
I use Vanilla Music
I use BlackPlayer.
It's clean, it looks good, downloads album and artist art, is very customizable, works with last.fm and, most importantly, HAS NO ADS.
>>57862486
Here you go man. Enjoy bros.
>>57865773
Not a skin just using nova launcher won't acorn pack and a zipper widget I made. Pretty simple man. I uploaded the wall here man
>>57865915
Eleven
>>57860773
Sony Music (formerly Walkman)
>>57860788
I'm not going to use it much but it's way better than Google music or any stock.
Anyway It's on sale 0.1€ right now. Works at least in Poland.
Custom free as in freedom firmware on a dedicated music player of your choice.
My phone actually has dedicated hardware for playing mp3 files which means I could listen to music like 40 hours straight without recharging and yet I'm not willing to waste battery charge (and storage space) on music. So I carry a rockboxed iPod Classic wherever I go.
Google music. You can just stream your library you don't need to even keep it on your phone
Anyone uses Rocket Player?
I was looking at the it's price and it costs like $6.99 in USA, and R$0,99 in Huezil (that's about $0.30).
>>57866262
I do. It's the only player I've found that actually reads Album Artist and not just Artist tags. Beyond that it's pretty nice as well.
>>57866299
It seems that Album Artist support is being added to Poweramp v3 too:
http://forum.powerampapp.com/index.php?/topic/9515-library-list-by-album-artist/
>>57866496
And it only took them three and a half fucking years to do.
http://forum.powerampapp.com/index.php?/topic/4439-album-list-sort-by-album-artist/
>>57866534
Yep, this new version of Poweramp is taking forever to be released. That's completely bullshit.
It's a great app, but sometimes it seems that the developer is just cashing on it's fame.
This 'let's release updates all at once and let the stable app stay outdated' is kinda crap. I understand this mentality for some software, but for an android music player?
The UI is outdated as fuck too. What saves it is that the default theme is acceptable and the widgets are amazing.
is there any way to make poweramp look not like shit? this ui is fucking awful
poweramp feels like shit, so i'm giving foobar2000 a try. is it possible to add components to the android version? i just want a last.fm scrobbler
I used power amp for a long time but it is outdated. Use blackplayer. It's just superior in terms of UI customization. Power amp was necessary when it came out but blackplayer really just does everything it does, barring maybe a few EQ features.
>>57866299
Just tried Rocket here and although it looks kinda good, it feels clunky. The animations stutters (opening the now playing list for example).
Poweramp feels a lot more responsive.
I just tried BlackPlayer too, and it looks pretty good.
But, it doesn't recognize the year of the album on the tags, so it doesn't list the albums on the correct release order. Poweramp does this no problems. Tried on the same artist/albums.
If BlackPlayer goes on sale I may buy it, but for now I think I'll just keep using Poweramp.
I hope MaxMP gets his head out of his ass and releases the new version soon, with a decent UI.
>>57867230
Oh and another problem of BlackPlayer.
It doesn't let me choose what folders I want in my Library, like Poweramp and Rocket does.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I couldn't find this.
It just scans everything. Fucking crap approach if you ask me, not nice having random audios from other apps on my music player.
>>57867230
>The animations stutters (opening the now playing list for example).
All I can say is that I haven't experienced this on my phone.
>>57867252
Yes you can, it's in the metadata settings
>>57860773
do any applications work with google music subscriptions?
>>57867740
Welp, just found the 'Blacklisting' option, but it's not available on the free version.
Help me with something else, there's anyway to make the notification go away if the music is paused? Or you have to swipe it away everytime?
i really think /g needs a sidebar or some kind of box on the homepage that has links to all approved programs for things like music players, text editors, anti-virus etc so we can stop having pointless threads like this. Soon there will be another thread about what the best image viewer on windows is. And the same recommendations will show up.
>>57868207
but it already exists
read the fucking sticky
>>57868207
This thread is far from pointless, you piece of shit.
>>57868207
Here, I'll do you the favor: https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/List_of_recommended_Android_software#Music
If it's incomplete or inaccurate, congratulations.
You found something to do during lunch.
I prefer GPM here because I sold my soul to the botnet.
>>57860791
>no opus support
Why even bother?
BlackPlayer
>>57862236
128kbps is the way God intended
>>57860773
Been using Timber lately which is GOAT: Timber (Material Design Music Player) - https://f-droid.org/app/naman14.timber
anyone know of a decent ui aiff player? Android doesn't provide support for aiff's natively but i use them for muh quality and the fact that they have good tagging facility (e.g. embed artwork) which wavs don't have to my knowledge. I would use flacs for everything but i do some djing and only the newer cdj models can play flacs whereas most all of them play aiffs so I keep my whole collection in aiff
>>57864548
I'm not talking about phonograph needing an equalizer, it's to improve the sound of headphones, to reduce/increase bass, treble and mids.
>>57865801
Thanks anon!
neutron
mpdroid
Shuttle is great. Heaps of customisation, easy to use and good support.
I've been using the paid version for years, however he doesn't update as quick as he use to.
>>57860808
my nigga
>>57864592
sorry mate, this >>57864973 was the right answer. She is delicious.
I've been using PlayerPro for the last 6 years, it's ran quite well, but is there any reason no one on /g/ has so much as mentioned it so far? Have I been cucking myself with a shit tier application?
BTW using an ancient pirated full version of it with a skin I like from their Google Play.
