Is it correct to refer to as smart phone as a PC? It's personal and it's a computer.

Sure, seems true enough. Though everyone will know you're a raging autist if you do
We have to draw a line somewhere or we'll start calling toasters computers. Imho if it ain't x86, it ain't a computer

I think it will be ok once we're able to easily hook them up to monitors, keyboards and mice and they run full-blown DE's on them, or we're able to install our own OS (not just a rom, that doesnt really count) and run current programs/games/etc on them and not just glorified web links.

We call them by their form factor.
Is it right to call a computer a phone? If I install skype I can easily make and receive voice calls.

Well, I think you actually can install Gentoo on an Android phone...

now change your operating system without using a computer.

I don't know but I just realized smartphones didn't exist in 2001. Why do I remeber them existing then? Was I just not paying attention?

It is a personal computing device but I think that you need to take into consideration what crosses people's mind when they hear a word. Think of the hacker vs cracker distinction. When people hear hacker they think of well a hacker not a programmer. When people hear PC they think of a desktop or laptop(mostly laptop now-a-days). It IS a smartphone and that is a more accurate word to use than PC.

Sounds good. Most people won't root/jailbreak anyway, so smartphones are closer to appliances.

ok fair enough, but you get what I'm saying. You can't really use them as actual personal computers yet, they're close but still missing universal peripheral/software support and are generally pretty locked down

>beastiality compilations
You mean your phone is like a beast at compiling things... r-right?
