>The changes will allow judges to issue warrants in cases when a suspect uses anonymizing technology to conceal the location of his or her computer or for an investigation into a network of hacked or infected computers, such as a botnet.

So apparently, if you use any kind of anonymization, ((they)) have the authority to monitor you?

jesus fucking christ.
>>
Who fucking cares.
>>
Yep, having a door is now probable cause.
>>
At least we were around for the good days of the internet

>Every 4 Chan user is on a list and America is passing a law to allow us all to be hacked

Also if they think you are in a botnet.

So pretty much everyone on /g/ is fucked.
>>
>>57781842
how would this work?
How would they know you are running over a VPN? Do they ask your VPN provider to MiTM? What if my vpn provider will not cooperate with the FBI. What hack to they have? What if I am behind two nats can they even touch my PC then? What if i using gentoo hardened? What if i am obfuscating my traffic and making it look like normal SSL traffic not a vpn session.
If i set up a private tor relay just for me and then that relay connects to the tor network so my ip won't ever directly connect to any tor network in/out ips can they still hack me? What if im using shadowsocks?
What is the point of this law?

>>57782045
on the plus side now the valley fucks are going to start giving a shit about security and privacy and all that shit. the next "killer app" will be sensitive to these things imho.

I know its like the most dankest /pol/ meme to say you are moving to Canada, but I am seriously considering pursuing an education on Canada, Australia, Austria, and the UK. I want to leave. I am so done with this fucking country. I am done with the politicians just doing the opposite of what the other politicians do. I am tired of it. I am tired of this Big Brother Bullshit.

Up until about 3 months ago I was one of those "Nothing to fear, nothing to hide" guys too, but I am sorry, this is just too fucking far now. I can't accept this.
>>
>>57782045
Step one: Use like 7 proxies.
Step 2: Laugh as they try to arrest a computer for using a proxy.

>Checkmate FBI!

Is anyone using a encrypted peer to peer chat service suddenly a suspected criminal now?

I don't understand this.
What do they mean by "anonymizing technology"
>>
>>57782072
You might want to bypass the news reporter and go straight to the bill for that info.
>>
>>57782096
not too sure where to read that info
>>
>>57782204
Start here.

Kindly do the whole world a favor and immigrate your ass to the bottom of the nearest river
>>
>>57781842
>((they))
You did it wrong. It's three (((3))) brackets.
>>
The internet as we know it today is dying.

The avalanche of people clamoring to get everybody's info, from smart TVs that record sound and video to vibrators that log and upload usage info.

And ontop of it all sit multiple agencies who do not cooperate with each other, they are not bound by the same rules that police need to follow in the real world, and they are hell bent on recording you all.

It sucks. But I do feel the net will morph into something else in the future. And I feel that change will be partly because of the choke hold government around the world is placing on the net.

I don't know why you people care about this shit.

People simply couldn't give less of a shit of their privacy, social media is proof of that.

I've pretty much given up on this fight a long time ago.

All of those nations also have (inter)national surveillance programs.

The only way to be sure you're immigrating to a nation that does not have one of those is to choose a country so poor it does not have the infrastructure to support such a program.

When did the Judicial branch gain the ability to write bills?
>>
>>57782625
>use of technology such as anonymizing software

Thats all thats mentioned, no specifics. weird.
>>
>>57782695

The Supreme Court writes the Federal Rules and the Senate approves them. Its technically more of a regulation than a law.
>>
Okay so using a VPN is suddenly probably cause?

What about tox?
>>
>>57782786

It's not probable cause in and of itself, it's just a contributing factor when the judge is deciding on whether to issue the warrant.
>>
>>57782064
I don't know about Austria, but Canada isn't doing anything to expand its domestic spying (that we know of), while Australia and the UK definitely are.
>>
>>57782706
>no specifics
That's not good, not good at all
>>
>>57781874
You are all that is wrong with society
>>
the problem with democracy from the very beginning is assuming people give a shit
>>
>>57782064
>Australia
Do not move to the worst country in Europe if you like privacy or rights.

Australia does health care well and education ok but it's rights and privacy are absolute garbage. You have way less rights here than in most actual dictatorships.

OTOH, China pwned all Australian government IT years ago so if you get spied on here, it's more likely to be foreign governments than a domestic one.

And moving to Aus to avoid NSA doesn't work because NSA spies on Aus citizens on behalf of Australian government and then gives them whatever they want to know about their own citizens but didn't want to get a (secret) court order to find out.
>>
>>57782064
>USA
>Canada, Australia, Austria, and the UK
Why don't you move to an actual good country ? There are plenty of them
