Just put a .nomedia file in the folders you want to hide. Won't be picked up by any gallery (quickpic can unhide it)

There's leafpic in fdroid.
It copys the features of quickpic, among others hide/unhide folders.

It's a bit buggy for me, unfortunately. It crashes a lot. So does legacy Quickpic though, which is doubly unfortunate.

I settled on Piktures. Not the best UI, but whateva.
