I'm not shilling memeblue, but look how fucking clear this crystal is.
It's so fucking clear I couldn't even see your mom teleporting behind me.
This shit is so clear I'd get worried that the dial could fall out
Tell me,
Why the FUCK doesn't Rolex use AR coating on their sapphire?
They expect me to pay 8 grand on a watch just so I could be reminded that I'm fucking ugly? Why the fuck do you think I bought a Rolex in the first place?

You can have the crystal coated yourself if you want.

I want to buy a leather NATO strap but I don't want to spend more than $20. I'm poor, I'm sorry.

Where should I buy from?
>>
>>57759504

sapphire crystal on my airblue is noticeably hazy, in comparison to the double AR coated sapphire on my sinn. not gonna complain because it was $150, but i would not buy it again at full price.

The lume is okish. Decently bright but doesn't last super long. The bracelet is quite nice aside from the pin and collar, I bent the shit out of one of my pins though trying to get it back in. I think this bracelet is probably common to a few models they sell, they could have altered the shape of the lugs just slightly to fit it better as it sticks out a little bit on the bottom. The overall finish of the watch itself is outrageous at this price point though, I can't believe how nice the watch itself looks.

Mine is about as fedora as it gets.

Parents gave it to me for Christmas last year and I figured I may as well embrace the tackiness and go balls out with the black and orange thing.

I end up wearing it more often than I'd like to admit because it's just so damn convenient.

I'm wearing my SKX-173 right now though, no sense posting that because everybody's seen them a billion times. I have mine on an OD Zulu at the moment.

What does that even mean? Some smart watches literally have glue in them. You're not even suppose to be able to open them.

A habring2 watch based on a 7750 can be sent in to have complications removed and added, even holes drilled in the case for new pushers.
>>
>>57763915
Also, look at that thing. I bet it's really easy to attach normal watch straps and bracelets to it.
>>
>>57759417
I watched the video, but it doesn't really go into detail about how the spring is charged. Or how the winding mechanism works. Wouldn't you just need to give it a single wind every once in a while instead of "winding it up". Not sure how this portion of the watch works. What can I watch.
>>
>>57764002
>What does that even mean?
The watch face is virtual, which means you can have any background and hands you want. You can also have widgets in the background too. Plus custom watch bands.

>You're not even suppose to be able to open them.
That's for a reason. To have a battery longer than 5 minutes to power all this stuff they need to use lithium batteries and have them magnetically or wirelessly charge.

>>57764020
Not on the Asus one because apparently those are proprietary, but you can put any strap or band on >>57763813
>>
I'm on the fence about buying that memeblue 300m diver. It's a fantastic price, but it's like 14mm thick and I feel my manlet wrists can't accomadate such a large watch. Gonna look iffy as hell.

Do any of you guys that bought have <7' wrist? if so, how does it look?
>>
>>57759417
i thought those were a wacky pair of headphones at first
>>
>>57759718
Looks pretty nice. I was really tempted to get one of these myself, but I already have an SKX and I blew my (pathetic) budget on a knife instead.
>>
>>57764092
the spring is charged either thru manually turning the crown, or thru an automatic winding system. Like a weight attached to a rotor.

You can give it a little wind constantly, or wind it once a day. You generally want the watch to be fully wound or near it, because as a mainspring winds down, the watch can actually slow a little bit, so they keep more consistent time if they stay fully wound. There are mechanisms for attempting to use variable mainspring force to apple a [more] constant force to the escapement. Read this:
https://monochrome-watches.com/technical-perspective-dilemma-constant-force-watchmaking/
>>
>>57764123

Still undecided if i want to keep the scratched mineral crystal or replace it for an acrylic.
>>
>>57764261
Oh I see there's two springs.

One that stores energy for the whole system, and the hairline spring is just a way to use it incrementally.
>>
>>57764550
I think the cut mineral is worth it, especially with that case design unless you can get a similar acrylic one. On that note, I really wish cut crystals would make a comeback. Only 'modern' watch with one that I am aware of is the Orient Neo70s series and those seem to be quartz.

This is also another one I bought, and it should hopefully be arriving any day now. Another anon bought the same Black Bay Homage but in Blue. I'm excited to receive it. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/41mm-Corgeut-black-sterile-dial-rose-gold-rim-hands-red-insert-Bezel-sapphire-glass-MIYOTA-Automatic/32675839102.html

>>
>>57772487
Buy polywatch for like 4€ and rub a bit on your plexiglas with a piece of cloth. If the scratches are deep and don't disappear just rub again some more paste and so on. The plexiglas of the Vostok is really thick so don't be afraid of making a whole through it (by using this product you basically remove micro layers of glas until the scratches are gone).
Some people use toothpaste but that's too ghetto, just get a tube of polywatch from Amazon or eBay.

Not trying to make it look like it's not reflecting desu, it is what it is.

Investment:
noun
1.
the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.

Whatever you or i think is irrelevant, that watch is an investment by definition as i can sell it for more than i paid for it. I get to enjoy a decent watch for a profit if i decide to sell.

It finally came in
Bezel is leagues ahead of my MDV106. Feels great with literally no play
Crown is nice and grippy, catches the threads without any issue
The dial is gorgeous, much better looking than the picture on their site, and I like it better than the dial on the skx
I love how deep the blue is, and the bezel gets lighter and darker depending on how it catches the light.
I was surprised that the crown is really deeply signed, same with the caseback.
Hopefully the 4r36 in this is accurate.
Overall well worth the $150.

>Aevig will bring back the Huldra diver. All Aevig watches are designed with aesthetics and details that will withstand time. Classic lines combined with contemporary touches, up to date manufacturing and choice materials in an affordable package give you a timepiece to mark your adventures.
>stay tuned for version two
>same classic styling but with subtle changes and the much requested date option

If they price it reasonably I could see this going head to head with the turtle, like what memeblue is doing with the SKX
>>
>>57779235
Can't say. I've noticed the watch lume glowing even when I could still easily read the dial (though don't know that I would call it beautiful)

I'm starting to want one more and more everyday fuck

I got mine preowned but in mint condition for 110€ shipped from a private seller on eBay.
It's an excellent watch, technically superior to the SKX and I even prefer the looks of this one too.
Are you having trouble finding one?

Not having trouble per-se, a lot of the south asian watch sites have it in stock; but I'm seeing a lot of price variation.
Is $200 too much for it new?

The three watches in the back (not including the gshock) were my grandfather's. They have sentimental value. The Seiko quartz chronograph, I got for my confirmation in grade 8. Gshock was from an ex girlfriend.
My girlfriend has a matching hipster Casio. Well I got her the JDM one, gets is a 158 and mine is a 168.
Two Accutron b/c their expensive in Canada, so when I found them for a particular price, I snapped em up.
The Tag was the first watch I bought when I started to become interested in watches. Must admit, I didn't even know what the difference between mechanical and automatic when I bought that watch.

I just got the pilot watch yesterday. It's a chinker "corgeut", with sapphire crystal and a manual wind 6497 mvt. Super high value watch IMO. 3 additional watches on the way as well.

I never understood how some people like yourself can get so assblasted by the watches other people own.

>>

The map indicator is cool, like really cool, and I can respect sticking to 24hr on a watch like that, but the hours look really ugly, and the whole airport indicator window thing was poorly executed imo
also 2k ETA lmao

110 is very flat, which makes it wear big as the lugs don't curve at all.

Damasko or Sinn?
I'm looking at their entry-level models mostly. (Fuck Sinn for not making the 556 hardened.)

What are the relative merits of their steel treatments? Damasko claims to have the entire case hardened, while Sinn is "just" the surface - although I don't expect scratching the inside of the case to ever be an issue...

And as an aside, is getting a black watch ever a good idea? The coating on both of those brands is supposed to hold up well, but I don't know if I can see myself wearing a black cased watch every day.
>>
>>57783498

When I was researching Sinn I was turned off by the fact that the 556 is basically a Sinn without any of the technology that they're known for.
>>
>>57783498
>Damasko or Sinn?

This question is often posted on r/watches

Never here, these are not /wt/-core watches

Me I'd go Damasko, Sinn just looks too plain and boring.
>>
>>57783965
Right? Why even bother getting a Sinn then?
The 556 design is probably my favourite of their lineup too, to make things worse. And it's 38mm, compared to the 40 of the cheapest tegimented watch.
If the 556 was tegimented and around 1k-1.2k€ (to compete withe Damasko's DA36), it would be a no brainer. They can leave out the dehumidifying capsule.

As it stands, even though I prefer some aspects of Sinn's designs, I'm tending towards Damasko.

>>57784436
Yeah the crosshair, as well as the offset day and date, are nice idiosyncracies.
I wonder why they aren't more popular over here. The price must be the main reason I suppose, they aren't nearly as affordable as a deep meme or a sarb, let alone a vostok or a seiko 5. But I think the value is pretty damn good still.

GENTLEMEN OF /WT/

I've fallen in love with the Seagull 1963 and I'll get one for Christmas as a present to myself

However I hesitate between the 38mm and 42mm versions.

--> owners of Seagull: which one did you pick and why?

--> owners of watches in general: what do you think? My 37mm Seiko 5 looks a tad small on my wrist. I'm thinking a 38mm watch would fit nice. A 42mm might be a tad bigger? It's too bad I can't try them.

ps I have 18/18 cm wrists. Around 7 inches (a bit less)

For the type of watch it is, going oversize 42mm is a disservice to the watch. Its a 1960's watch and 38mm is the original size it came in. I think it will wear nicer on the wrist than your Seiko though 42 won't be that bad. 38mm is just more authentic.
>>
>>57785098
>>57785115
I have similar wrists, could I pull of a 41mm diver with 47mm lug to lug, that is Mako II or maybe SKX?

I have a 6,75" wrist and my Ray is fine, because the lugs aren't too big. I wouldn't get anything bigger than it though. And it looks too big if I put it on a nato.
>>
>>57785220
They're tool watches. They are easy to read and devoid of unnecessary bullshit.
>>
>>57785239
>>57785004
Also get a display caseback, it's worth it with a column wheel chronograph movement.
>>
>>57785265
That's what I thought, I have a 38mm watch with 46mm lugs and it fits quite fine. And does a nato make a watch sit better? I probably wouldn't put it on one simply because it would sit at like 15mm
>>
>>57785279

>>
>>57785394
I said to get the 38mm version because your Seiko looks spot on. Also it's the size of the original and vintage style watches look better smaller imho.
>>
>>57785291
Yeah exactly, it makes the already thick watch sit much higher and the lugs don't curve around the wrist anymore.
That's why I got a rubber isofrane-style strap as a casual alternative.
>>
>>57759417
Love that date pointer and moon phase complication. What movement does this use?

>>
>>57785371
They started as tool watches, now they're luxury watches with tool functionality and tool aesthetics
>>
>>57785493
I agree about the crystal, domed acrylic is always preferable over flat sapphire on vintage style watches.
