Considering every Android is exactly the same to use, you have a pretty good one and no reason to upgrade until you can comfortable afford a iPhone.

Not op, but chinkphones tend to have a problem with US bands. There are some Chinese phones I want, but most can't seem to get 4g.

How are you too poor to upgrade? Any $100-200 phone can beat those specs today

The USA has an issue with not supporting the standard global bands.

But even then you can get more than a handful of Chinese phones with support for the US bands, even though it clearly isn't automatically a given.

Apart from that, I'd think twice about grabbing a data plan with 4g if buying a phone is financially troublesome. Should be much cheaper to just ride WLAN & store your entertainment on your phone.

But Walmart has Blu branded phones for US bands that are unlocked

I got an HTC One M7 for Sprint on Swappa for under $40
great 4G reception at least at home and work (I tether for internet connection)
that's really my only standard other than that I just use my phone to check the time/calender watch porn ,dont' really even use the actual "phone" feature because no friends. Is the desire worse than the M7?

Upgrade with tax refund you are getting one right? It might be a no interest loan to the government but it can be really handy when you need a large chunk of money that you don't need to pay back

I had one, and it was miserable on stock. Root using the AAHK, advanced ace hack kit. I had a CM11 based rom that made it more than usable. Otherwise it's going to suck ass for you.

btw, you can get used chinese phones for hideously cheap, like $30, best is going to be BLU. they all come with AOSP so won't be complete shit
