What are some factors that would make a computer play games and perform at an overall lower rate than it used to? I get that it's not a great rig, I get that it's AMD. But that doesn't change the fact that it USED to run games at 60 fps, and now it has dips in games I used to get steady frames in.

If you want to try win10, do a clean install. The automatic upgrade thing brings all of your old shit over, so if your current install has aids, the win10 upgrade probably will too.

You could just remove the shit in the background. It's insanely easy to diagnose why a Windows pc runs slow using the Resource Monitor.
Reinstalling an OS is what tech illiterates do.
