>look up for a home NAS server, preferably with RAID
>shitty NAS boxes seem to cost 1k+
>commercial rack-mounted stuff are like 3k+
wtf
Should I just buy a regular computer and find some kind of PCIe SATA controller and implement RAID on software?
How do people typically approach this problem?
I dont know where you found 1k+ but you have WD My Cloud Mirror that has raid for I think around 300-500$ depending on the storage size.
Or you could build a PC with a mobo that supports RAID and install freeNAS on it.

This faggot right here knows what's up

if you have a spare computer lying around, just take out the status led on that and set up owncloud or something
>>57752731
2 disks and raid 1?
This is not a joke, I actually want redundancy.

How did you know I'm gay?

Yes, go google WD My Cloud Mirror. Has some nice software too. Personally I decided to go with a Raspberry Pi and external HDD running ownCloud since I do not need RAID.
>>57752779
for raid 1, system raid is enough
>>57752695
HP Microserver if you can set up it yourself.
>>57752695
make it yourself faggot, don't buy a (((pre-built))) NAS
