Camera on the 3T is much, much better than the nex5 one, battery will definitely last you a day+ if you're not a heavy user, the phone is insanely fast with the few games I've tried with it, no tearing/stuttering at all. Literally the only issue I have with it at all is that some of the viewing angles aren't the best; if you tilt it like, 45 degrees the colours get pretty awful.

It's quite a bit bigger, not unusable with one hand but not as comfy either.
It feels really well made, the screen looks much nicer than the nexus, the camera is a little worse though.
It gets very warm while charging AND using at the same time, but I haven't seen it go over 60°c yet. I think it just feels hot like from the metal chassis transmitting the heat more than the plastic back on my nexus.

It has a few quirks, for example, I've noticed that some bluetooth devices take longer to connect than they did on my nexus, but some connect even faster.

The battery can also take some time to charge, ~3.5 hours for me since the stupid aliexpress seller didn't ship my phone with a pump express charger, but I still think it's worth it.

I like it more than my nexus 5.

It needs to have an SD card slot, no stupid gimmicks like the Edge has, a decent battery (not much of an issue really, not a heavy user), and great current specs for maximum future-proofing. 5.5 inches is too big. My dear old Grandpa wants a smartphone for his birthday and I need it to be super ultra easy and intuitive to use.
But I can't decide between two options:

Should I buy a cheap ass IphoneSE and leave it to Apple in order to be easy and closed...

Or should I buy a normal android phone, root it and modify myself in order to be completely debloated and free of any form of adware and normal ad?

I can use Xposed and any useful app for this purpose, that means that I could actually give him an ad-free android with an easy-to-use loked down user interface (I was thinking of a de-bloated easy mode touchjizz, but, you know, touchjizz).

Not going to happen with any SD808/810 2015 device. It's one of the worst chips to ever exist. Moto X Pure is the closest you're going to get. I still have one laying around. Camera is good but it overheats and is slow as balls compared to my old OPO and ZF2.

I think the Euro version of the Moto X Pure is the Style and the Play is a lesser version. I think it had the 615 or 600 series SD I don't recall. The good thing is the software and camera should be identical and it's not the 808/810 so it should run fine. The HTC M8 is 801 and is a good phone. The camera sucks compared to the Moto IMO. Both have front facing speakers though. The 801 typically beats the 600 series performance wise last I checked but it should be about as good depending on how you use the device. If you aren't a min/maxer either will do.

Oh and the 600 series is a newer chipset so you'll likely have a newer GPU and some newer optimizations that an older one won't have if that matters. I still have 801's in service and they run like champs. The biggest downfall with newer devices is just how bloated and heavy Android is since 5.0+.
