I am planning a new PC used mostly for gaming. Main objectives are upgradability and future proofing. My budget is 1000 CAD (700 USD) (add 15% to listed canadian price for taxes). Here is the build I am considering at the moment. For additional storage I already have 2 external 5tb HDDs. My strategy here is to make a good base computer and run gfx on the cpu until I can save for a good GPU. Alternatively I could use a Zotac GeForce GT 520 1GB but it's so shitty I'm not even sure it would increase performance. My view is that if I buy cheaper parts to have a meh gfx card right now, I will have to replace them all sooner. I don't mind limited gfx capability for a little while, it will till be ahuge step up from my current piece of crap.

Any thoughts on parts I should change, something I forgot or a flaw (other than the lack of a GPU)? Information of upcoming new part and possible price drops and welcome too.

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Intel 600p Series 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case
EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

>tl:dr I wanna best pc but can't buy it all now and don't know all that much about building

I'm pretty set on the processor. i7 doesn't seem to give much benefit. Going for an older chipset to save a few bucks would hurt upgradability.
Cooling fan I know jack about, but this one has good reviews seem ti allow some OCing and is relatively cheap.
The mobo I'm not dead set on. This one seems to be popular in the high mid-range. Performance is supposed to be good, 3 gfx slots, I could always throw 75$ to get Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO at $234.99, apparently the BIOS is more user friendly, but I don't think it's worth it.
Memory seems good if a little pricey. I will still have 2 open slots to expand.
M2 storage will be a new venture for me. I could go for a larger SATA SSD, but this will mainly contain windows. I already have 2 5tb external HDDs in the meantime.
The case is the cheapest with a window and has good reviews.
PSU is cheap, but loosing 30$ upraging it when needed won't make make me cry. EVGA is supposed to be a safe brand.
I could put a 100$ graphics card in it, but atm I think I should wait 1 or 2 months till I have some monies. I can always do it once built if I realise the CPY graphics won't do even in the short term.

Shameless bump.

You're paying way too much for your MOBO. You should be looking in the $80-$120, anything over that is wasting money unless you really need the stuff the higher prices MOBOs have.

You can also get a cheaper case that's in the $30-$50 range with the same cooling performance as the S340. Just as long as you read the reviews and look up videos, you'll be able to find a way cheaper case easy.

Unless you're actually going to do the mail-in rebate for your PSU, look for a cheaper one. I can get a 500-750 PSU right now for $60 so finding anything less will be fairly simple.

Logical Increments is your friend.

I'm waiting for Zen. It's out just after New Years. I'd wait til then cause even if you aren't a fan of AMD the 6600k should drop in price.

Get a cheaper CPU cooler, dummy.

Your spending too much on ram, Mobo, and your case

That 600p got some pretty nasty reviews, mostly due to weak write speeds but it should be alright for casual use. Just a heads up.
