Lolita spyder owner here.

There's one fault about this keyboard and I'm not sure if it's just mine or it's a matter of build quality.

The shift keys and space bar have a switch on the middle and a couple of stabilizers(?) on the sides which fit into the cherry-like cross inserts.

My left shift, however, if pressed on the left, tilts and makes the press harder than it should be. It all seems to fit perfectly, but it still tilts, as if the stabilizers are not synched.
Has anyone ever had a problem like this?

inb4 "cheap chink shit", I know about that. Just trying to come up with a solution.

Yeah, 35g gateron clears

Easily my favorite switch so far.

Next up would be Topre, mx clears and gateron black. And I've still got some other switches to try. But gateron clears, especially in combination with the TADA68, providing a very nice sound in combination with the very solid plate and case, and the thicc pbt keycaps.

That being said, I've still got some other switches to try out and also use other keyboards with different switches depending on what I'm doing. But the TADA68 has been getting the most use of all by a long stretch.

I honestly don't know of any.

The TADA68 is already almost budget to me, especially when you consider the features it comes with.

You could get some cheap-ass chinkboard and replace the switches with gateron clears.

My first keyboard was with browns. They're nice enough switches, but they suck ass compared to any other switch.

Probably the same as the pok3r: Decent.

Metal case and pbt caps, unfortunately spray painted and laser etched, so not really desirable. Going out on a limb, I'd assume that it's not fully programmable either.

It's the escape key, sure it gets used fairly often, but you're hardly going to use it enough for it to develop shine anytime soon.

You could also get one of these fuckers. I feel like I should pick up the angel for my HHKB, but then again, I'll be doing some extensive modding on that anyway, so I'm not sure about getting keycaps for it yet.

what makes you say that? its a different spring (greetech is heavier) and supposedly the bump on the slider is both bigger and smoother
>>
>>57723857
definitely isn't true.

i have the mk84 from mechanicalkeyboards with greetech brown switches, and they are noticeably scratchier/squeakier than any other brown switches i've used (i've tried a few cherry browns and kailh browns).

i actually have never noticed any scratchiness in cherry switches (i guess i'm less sensitive than other people), but the greetechs are absolutely awful. i can hear random scraping/squeaking when just typing normally. it isn't restricted to a few problem keys either as i can just hit any key a few times and it will eventually squeak at some point.

hmm the squeaking in that video is definitely pretty noticeably. i haven't heard squeaking like that in any of the boards with cherry switches that i have tried/owned.

not really relevant, but i have purchased and returned two different kbp boards in the past (v80 with clears, v60 with matias quiet click) for chattering issues so i'm somewhat biased against kbp boards in general.

that said, i was mostly responding to the "clones should be pretty much the same as cherry switches" statement, as in my experience the cheaper clones are definitely worse.

is there a cherry mx clear clone i could try for comparison? i've only tried clones for reds, browns, and blacks.

Yeah, I'll have to experiment some more, but getting tolerances down with the stem seems like it'll be a pain.

I'll probably just end up using molds too, though the 3D printer could come in handy for making the front part of the molds when first casting them.

so you can get these done at wasdkeyboards but the result will be a shitty ABS keycap that will wear down after heavy use. maxkeyboards is the exact same thing, but they can do backlit keys as well. it's the easiest way to get custom keys, and likely the cheapest at $50

there's a company called varmilo that can do custom pbt dye-subbing which would be better than the wasdkeyboards stuff, but you actually have to email them for an inquiry, so i don't know anything about the price or process and what they can do

and there's a guy on reddit (yes yes i know, don't jump on me) that just tested out some custom pbt dyesubbing, and he says he will likely do custom orders in the future. so you can check that out

and i also know there's this one guy on etsy that does custom pbt stuff as well but it's very expensive

not him, but the soft touch materials were on the extra keycaps that you get. You can just switch them out easily
Also the vast majority of keyboards use ABS plastics, so buying a new keyboard just because the keycaps get a yucky shine (pic related) is dumb thing to do. PBT keycap sets cost around 35-45 bucks, with some on massdrop going bellow 30 like: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/vortex-backlit-pbt-doubleshot-keycap-set

The only keyboards that I know off that come with PBT keycaps by default are high end Ducky and some of the fruity 60% keyboards. Everyone uses ABS plastics
>>
>>57725792
well they don't normally "wear out" to the point that you can't use them anymore; they just get shiny after use and people don't like that since it looks and feels kind of gross.

as far as how long that takes, well i guess it's however long you can stand the shiny-ness. probably between a few months and a year depending on how and how much you use a keyboard

i didn't ask for a replacement so i could've just been extremely unlucky with the v80. from a few google searches it seems like v60 is the one with chattering issues in general (i don't think it's limited to a specific switch).

>>
>>57728689
DE razors come pretty close, and are much easier to use.
>>
I'm so sorry /mkg/

I wasn't planning to go down this route, believe me, but $70 Canadian for a refurbed Razer Blackwidow Ultimate was legitimately the most practical option for me this Black Friday.

Sure I would have liked to drop $120 on that Ducky Shine over on DirectCanada, but that just wasn't in the cards. And believe me, I checked my other options. The Razer was the best fit for me.

Someday I will have a really cool mech and can get on your level, but it just wasn't feasible right now and I just can't stand this $15 Logitech POS anymore.
>>
>>57728239

Greens are just stiffer blues, but feel so much better. Give those a try if you want something clicky.

If you just want something smooth, look at zealios.
>>
>>57728647

>poorfags

But the best topre board is only $200 (hhkb pro 2). That is pretty much entry level cost when it comes to customs.

My korean custom cost closer to $400 with caps and everything, and it was a budget build.
>>
>>57728689

Safety razors are just as good and dirt cheap along with easy to use.
>>
>>57728239

Gateron linears. If you're looking for smooth keys foremost you don't want anything clicky or tactile.
>>
>>57728968

Well on the bright side when you're ready to get rid of it you can clean it up and probably sell it to some gaymurr for around what you paid for it.
>>
>>57726007

It's a KBP thing, not a switch thing. Something about their board design or firmware makes them shit at switch debouncing.
>>
>>57729139

They probably use cheap switches without crosspoint.
>>
>>57729149

Yeah, they should have gone with Gateron instead of Cherry.
>>
>>57728968
mechanical is mechanical. it will still be a vast upgrade over some shitty rubber dome. for $70 canadabucks that's not terrible, sounds like you weighed your options and made an informed purchase to me. i hope you enjoy your blackwidow regardless of what anyone around here says.
>>
>>57729164

Cherry has crosspoint though.
>>
>>57729212

They also chatter on KBP boards so clearly that can't actually be true.
>>
>>57729191

There were a couple other candidates in the race. On Black Friday Newegg had an Azio MGK-1 RGB on for 100 Canabucks. And a while back I was looking at paying $50 for a Chinese seven color board off of Aliexpress.

Ultimately I'm glad I passed on both. I don't really need the rainbow crap (my favorite color is green, conveniently, and it's the only color I would have used on an RGB board) and like the other anon said it would be an easy sell if I ever want to upgrade. This keyboard typically sells for $140 Canadian so I reckon I'd get my money back pretty easily.
>>

so whats the difference in an US keyboard? despite the fact that we have a lot of extra keys on my language i always type in english anyway

is there going to be anything different? i mean obviously the special keys are going to be elsewhere but i use a linux server on a daily basis where the character coding is english as well so im familiar with the mapping
>>
>>57729231

Must be a firmware issue then. Wrong debounce time or something.
>>
>>57729338
Not heaps. It'll be easier to find keycaps for an American board over anything else.

Hey guys, what is your opinion on the Razer Blackwidow chroma?

Right now there is a pretty good Cyber Monday deal going on (35% off) and I am in need of a new good keyboard.

Does anyone have any experience with it? Anyone know the difference between the stealth and clicky ones?

Thanks

that is not how in works faggot. The ISO layout has a smaller left shift because it has 1 key more than ANSI. It is US ANSI where for no fucking reason whatsoever the backslash key is 0.5u wider than any other key of the alpha block, but the the combined size of enter and backslash keys in ISO and ANSI ist the same.

is right though. Fuck most logical layouts for ISO keyboards

I know popularity doesn't equal quality, but to an extent it actually may. I have to make sure.
>>
>>57731779
If you really want to make sure, go buy a switch tester with a variety of switches and try them all out. Don't just listen to random people telling you what they like.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NPKC-17-Switch-Tester-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Sample-Kit-Gray-Clear-White-Razer-/282122615334

$30, free shipping, Cherry Black, Red, Brown, Blue, Tactile Gray, Linear Gray, White, Clear and Green, Gateron Black, Red, Brown, Blue, Yellow, White and Green plus a Razer Green thrown in for good measure.

Will stop at customs and I'll have to spit out about 20 more dollars. So, basically, 50 dollars for a fucking switch tester. I know it's probably worth, but for fuck sake, I'm europoor and still only own 1 budget chink keyboard. It hurts my wallet.
>>
>>57731863
>europoor
Is this better? 20 Euros, free shipping within Europe but only 6 switch types (Cherry Blue, Red, Green, Black and Brown) plus a bonus Novatouch switch.

>>
>>57731895
