I own an FK-9000, and no, the focus FK series is not as good as the gateway anykey, because it doesn't have on-board universal macro-support or the quick remapping function the anykey has. the on-board calculator is redundant, the turbo-key is a gimmick at best,

And I won't even get into a moronic second backslash key which does literally nothing but take away from the left shift key so you have to stretch your left pinky further than necessary. Mechanical switches are the best feature of owning and older keyboard. Gateway 2000 doesn't even do that right.

Also, there's no need for on-board mapping when you can do it by software, as long as it generates a scan code.

the reason on-board mapping and specifically macroing is so great is because it's FAST. people underestimate the technology, but I use it constantly now when I have to repeat a combination of characters often when coding.

mechanical switches feel fun to use, but rubber dome works just as well and is quieter. there are reasons I own both a focus fk and a gateway anykey, and the anykey is the one that's plugged in to my computer. the anykey is objectively better, I have yet to see a more functional model of keyboard, though I would be happy to see one.

if you want the meme arrow keys with a mechanical model, get the focus fk 5001 or 9000, but it doesn't have as the remapping/macro system the anykey has. it does however have a meme calculator, and meme turbo key.
