I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7" tablet. Set it up. Have a problem. Video playback is a horrible juttery mess. Tried Netflix. Jutter. Tried Youtube. Jutter. It'll hang on random frames and then jerk.
Is this a known issue with Android or Samsung tablets? Is there any fix, or should I just return it as defective?

1) Is your WiFi speed the issue?
2) Factory reset, then experiment again
3) If after factory reset, all video playback shit, return it as faulty
People above saying "Touchwizz" - Touchwizz is Samsung's modified version of Android. It's a meme to mock Touchwizz on this board, but although it can cause your device to lag slightly when opening apps or scrolling through menu screens, it does not in any way cause the kind of video issues you're reporting. So Touchwizz is definitely not to blame.

The video plays, but is sort of catching every few seconds. Sometimes it freezes and jerks forward. Did a hard reset. WiFi speed shouldn't be an issue.
Was just about to buy this one, guess I'll buy the fire HD 8 instead...
