Anyone working IT here? Thinking of getting into it. Seems pretty comfy.
What's the quickest way up to the top from junior? Learning which tech is going to boost the pay the most?
Personal pros and cons?
I read that it's a stressful career but pay is good at the top.
Do NOT work on anything admin related. I do and although I love my job you end up working overtime, barely sleeping, burnout with no social life or happines whatsoever.
Service Desk jobs are pretty comfy if you don't like any intellectual challenge and can tolerate the schedule (working weekends, night shifts, holidays)
I'm going to bed. Sorry for bad english

What do you mean admin related?
if you want to go to the top you probably shouldve started going to college and studying by now. But if you want to get to the """""top"""" then you need to get a Network+ and Security+. Get a security clearance and start contracting for the government. You will be in a comfy position sooner or later and not only will you literally not know how to do your job, but you will have an inflated ego because you are technically in """IT""". You can then go out into the real workforce, get absolutely destroyed in a technical interview and realize that your only option is to go back to government contracting.

I think he's talking about jobs like coordinating, supervision, managing...

system administrator type stuff, generally you need to feel out what you want to do in IT. You're more than likely going to be a fag and want to make sick video games and code! but realistically I think networking and cybersec is a good path for you.
also look into learning how to manage a SQL database. I've never met a human being in my entire life who has ever messed with a SQL server. and I see jobs looking for those non existent people
What's something I can teach myself to just grab a desk job?

Just lie to them. Say you have some IT certs.
