I've heard that GPU RAM is going to become more important in the near future for video games and performance. Am I wasting my time/money looking at cards that only have 1 or 2gbs?

Modern consoles have about 6-7GB of usable RAM, we can safely assumed half of it is for video stuff so anything above 3.5GB is safe... today...

Oh and OP even 3GB VRAM is inadequate for gaming with new releases I would not go under 6GB for a srs gaming rig. I only recommend 4GB sapphire cards to customers as an absolute base for poorfags budgetfags

Can confirm as I have built 2 rigs with the 3GB 1060 on request and it struggles with highest textures in three games so far
