What's the best $100 phone I can get for Freedompop?(Tmo towers I think)

Friend lost everything going to jail, got out, and I wanna get him a phone and a year of service as a gift.

Used is fine if it's a superior device.

Tfw RingPlus just discontinued my plan during their switch

A bit annoying but I really have no idea how they managed to give me 5GB of LTE per month for free. Even so their normal plans are pretty cheap.
