how shit is huawei in terms of updates

my 4 year old galaxy s3 started to behave strangely, sometimes it just flashes the display and turns off with 30%-40% of battery left. Today it happened with 67%. My on-screen time became shit, like 40 minutes tops. This all happened gradually over last half a year so I didn't pay attention at first. Will battery replacement help?

You can give it a try and get a new battery, they aren't that expensive. But I think you have a hardware fault.

For the realm of $180-$200, which is better, LG G4, or Note 4?
I'm looking for camera quality, battery life, and call quality/loudness and reception.
I'm not a fan of either one's size, but the note 4 has the spen, and the g4 has ergonomics and either one of those things will probably ease me into it.

I was looking at deals since it's Black Friday. Looking at Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Pro. The main difference seems to be the CPU (Snapdragon 650 vs 652). Is it worth the price difference?
>>
>>57675911
What's the price difference? The note 4 has a better camera.
We zuk z2 now, lmao.

Actually fuck Redmi Note 4 Pro. No stock android roms on XDA.

Can I put stock Android on Z2? I can't even find a section on XDA for this lol

i need a ROM for my galaxy s5. which would you say is the most lightweight, most debloated one?

Far far too expensive. She wants something in the 300€ price range. I thought the nexus 5x would be a good idea because clean android and updates.

I think I'll go Redmi Note 3 Pro. I won't have to spend all of my alloted budget plus it seems to have decent support (at least it's on CM supported list) for custom ROMs.

Redmi 3s has a 4g bug, buy the redmi 3 pro instead, or an oukitel k6000 pro if you want a 1080p screen.

Do you guys think that the Redmi Note 3 Pro will get cheaper once the Redmi Note 4 Pro with SD653 and dual cameras arrive this December? If the RN4P with 2Gb RAM is around $140, I guess the RN3P with 3Gb RAM will be around $115?

How does /g/ deal with phones that generally get "10/10!" from thousands of users and then a dozen or less "1-3/10" with several paragraphs explaining why which MOSTLY sounds reasonable and some can even be verified with some googling?

I either think:
A: They are fucking clueless and/or whiny
B: They got a faulty product
C: They are the only ones who actually knows what's up aside from the mindless drones and shills spamming 10/10

It's extreme hard to discern which category they fit into early in a products life though. I simply have to wait a month or something to have enough data speaking against their claims. Site reviews are overall too general in their articles.

How do you do it /g/ ?
>>
Op3t 128gb at $480 or HTC 10 at $500?
>>
>>57676877
I don't trust 10/10 reviews. I'd rather look at reviews that are very critical and roam in the 5 points area. From there onwards I can make my own judgement. But if the 1-3 stars reviews are getting more and more numerous then there might be really a problem there, but remember that the dissatisfied customer is far more likely to voice his opinion online than a satisfied customer
>>
Is the redmi note 4 really that great? Should I just order one from aliexpress, or are there any better sites?

i have samsung galaxy s5, and i wanna flash a custom rom on it.

This note 7 fiasco was amazing to me

The first note 7 I got I used it for the promotion for the 256gb SD card, got it and then the recall came
I used the Recalled note 7 IME to get a second SD card, got accepted but had to turn it back in

Exchanged it for an LG V20, LG gave me $200 as a promotion for the exchange, and bang & Olufsen's earphones (about $150)

As far as the v20 goes, I like it a lot (not as much as the note 7), besides some hiccups and one hard crash everything worked pretty well.
>>
>>57677332
i really want the v20 for removable battery and external storage but the op3t has more internal memory, ram, and battery capacity, plus its way cheaper.
>>
>>57677134
Just run kingaroot or one of those Chinese bot apps on it. If it works, odds are the boatloader isn't locked. Samsung has been pretty good with leaving them unlocked unless you like in burger land.

If you root it successfully then change to chain fire, install custom recovery image and then flash the rom through twrp

Anybody has experience dealing with Fastcardtech?

I don't really get it either man, but I guess there is some consideration to be made around Charge vs. Current vs. Volts. If laptops run off a higher voltage, those mAh might translate to more power, or energy, in the end.

All I've heard so far is:

>Difficulty to fix due to lack of spare parts

Assuming I want to keep my next phone for at least 3 years, is having a removeable battery something I need to consider?
My ONLY options are the G5, P9, and (in a very thin stretch only if both the G5 and P9 are total shite) an S7. I also heard that the G5 has a really weirdly dim screen but I don't know if this is a real-life issue or just number crunching. >>57679080
If you're a USfag, then you generally don't get good 4G/GSM support for these phones. Plus shipping to the states is an absolute nightmare, since the chink websites usually don't have US warehouses.

Also, if you decide you don't like the phone in 5 days, you're SOL, unlike if you bought from Amazon or fucking Newegg or whatever. Also, if you're an Android novice, you might have more troubles rooting the phone to replace the buggy vendor rom.

Otherwise, I can't really think of much else, but it was enough for me to find a phone available in the US instead of going for the Zuk like I originally wanted.

If you're a Eurofag only half of this may apply
>>
Is there a phone that has stock Android, a 5.5" or bigger screen that's IPS, and is under $500?
>>
What benefits (other than customization) does rooting my phone provide?
>>
>>57676394

>>
>>57679832
access to shit you can't normally access, which is why xposed modules work

Most kids just text and facebook, so obviously they are happy with the phones. Plus tons of people review it after a day or two, and since it's new it's fast and awesome.
>>
>>57677957
I have a note 4, after about a year the battery stopped holding as much of a charge and dying around %15 battery, it got so bad it would die at like 40%, no big deal though, I can just replace the battery for $15. If my S7 does that after a year or two, well, it's going to be a bigger pain in the butt.
>>
>>57678020
Like he said, if you live in the states, pretty much all of them are locked. Google the crap out of it and sometimes you can find a way around it. Rooting and custom FW never really helped me much, except when they stop supporting the phone and you get no more OTA updates.

Alright Girls and /g/oys, here is my honor 8 review (personal blog edition).

So today T-mobile called me on my iphone 4s which I was using while my htc m8 is being repaired.
The guy on the phone told me that "you know it's black friday today and we have some phones for you dirt cheap". Told him that I'll be there in like 20 minutes. Looked up the list of phones, they have. Le-I-already-know-every-phone-on-the-list face. Decided to ask him about the galaxy s7 and the honor 8.
The guy told me the prices,
the s7 would've cost me 70% more monthly, I don't feel samsung phones anyway. So i bought the honor 8.

Pros:
>It's nice
>I mean it is Very Very nice (I bought it in white, blue is a bit off for me tho)
>It's proper fast
>Good balanced weight
>feels alright in the hand
>screen's nice too
>cheap
>can make calls
>easy and cheap to repair

Cons:
>glass panel on the back breaks easily, I heard
>"It looks like an iphone" - A normie-slut friend of mine
>"HONOR"

U decide:

I like my honor 8 a lot, mostly. I'm having trouble getting all the shit I wasnt displayed on the lockscreen. I'll root and fix it eventually.

In any case, make sure you setup the back button. It's the best thing since gestures.
>Swipe down/up to show/hide notifications and settings
>Swipe sides for image browsing among other things
>Click for one function (I have flashlight)
>Double click for another

I got hardened glass on both front and back + a actually fitting blue frame protector so the shiny stuff isn't hidden away in plastic shit. Just don't get a TPU clear case or anything, it will ruin it. I tried.

>Looks like an iphone
How can normies eve mistake it for an iph-"I got it white" oh right.

It got some early stage Cyanogen for it as well as of now. Hopefully something stable will emerge. We also got a big chance to get Nougat.

When it comes to the LG G4 in the states, can all of them have TWRP recovery and cyanogenmod installed on them, or are they all locked down asides from the T-Mobile variant, as it seems with most of them?

The regular Z2 or Pro version?

Has anybody got Google search and Google voice commands working on miui v8 on the RN3P? Shit keeps opening then closing one second after. Checked all permissions and clean installed.

Viper4Android gives really good EQ control. i change stuff for music or for audio books to tweak the sound to how i like. there could be easier ways to do it though.

Is there a major difference between the HTC 10 and the Pixel XL other than screen size?

Had a 5X and I got a refund because it broke on me after a software update. I wish the 6P had IPS, then it'd be the perfect phone imo

Are there any known faults with the Huawei P9?

It's all I've ever needed, couldn't be without it. I've set up different profiles for different headphones, car speakers and living room speakers.

What's better the Android meme or iOS meme?

Using viper4android has been great. Let's me use $5 earphones and make them sound as good as $50 earphones.

I heard software was an issue from a few reviews

Alright /spg/, I need your opinion.

Was unemployed a few months ago when I bought my Oukitel k6000 pro, but I've recently found a job and been working for almost a month now.

Because I've got an income now I want to buy something better, I've been really eyeing the zuk z2 pro, mainly because I love the design and it's got a good camera and great specs.

Some things I like about the zuk z2 pro are
>much better camera than my k6000 pro, especially in low light
>1080p screen with SD820 should have amazing performance
>lots of ram and high speed memory
>home button done right, fuck you apple.
>much cheaper than any good phone I can buy local (Ausfag)
>5.2 inch, comfy to use with one hand

Things I don't like
>usb type c, I'll need to replace all my micro USB that I keep as spares
>it's thin, I'll need a case. Also glass back looks great but could crack.
>it's got a lot of storage, but now my micro SD card is redundant
>gets great battery life according to reviews, which I don't doubt thanks to the combo of SD820 and 1080p amoled screen, but they tend to have different use cases so it's not the most accurate and it does have a much smaller battery than my k6000 pro

things I'll miss from my k6000 pro when/if I upgrade
>the weight is really reassuring in my hand and pocket
>6000mAh battery
>all metal build feels really nice in my hands
>use it without a case, have dropped a few times with zero damage to the body or screen. It's tough.

I really want to upgrade, mainly for the camera, but I just feel really bad/guilty upgrading so soon after getting my k6000 pro. Usually my phones last 2 years or more, my previous was a nexus 5 before this k6000 pro.

What do I do? This is killing me.

Which keyboard do you guys use? I'm looking for one with the long press characters; pic related is kii keyboard, it's not developed anymore & it's emoji plugin is no longer on the store which is why I want to switch
>>
>>57686320
You could use both
>>
>>57686552
I only have one sim though, and that would mean carrying around 2 devices.

I'm just horrible at making decisions, so this is stressing me out.

If my k6000 pro had a better SoC and camera it would be perfect. But as it stands, the ov13850 is already being held back by the mtk6753 SoC...

>>57686321
Google keyboard. It's massively improved since last last big update and has a long press for symbols option.

Is the curved screen protector worth it for the op3, or should i just get the normal one?

>>57686320
if you were getting robbed by a black guy, which one would you prefer to give up?

>you see his post here asking how to unlock it several hours later
>>
how's the xiaomi redmi 4 prime (not the note version)? anyone has it? been thinking about buying it, but I'm afraid it doesn't have rom support yet.
should I just buy a RN3P?
>>
>>57686991
But I like my k6000 pro too ;_;

It's not about the money, it's more of a moral dilemma, I haven't had the k6000 pro for long but I want something with a better camera.

I'm looking into buying a (possibly refurbished) G4, but I read up that there's a bootloop problem on certain devices, how do I know if it's safe or not?
I've heard that serial numbers 505-509 and/or hardware revision 1.0 are the ones afflicted, but some people reported devices with the S/N 511/512 and HW revision 1.1 with said same problem.

Should I be worried with just buying a certified refurbished device from amazon/ebay with this floating around?

What should I look for to be safe?

Get the ZUK if you want a better camera that badly

zte axon 7 or honor 8?
similar specs
534 ppi at 1440x2560
20 mp front cam
sd 820 2150 mhz
3250 mah battery

424 pi at 1080x1920
12 mp dual front cams
kirin 950 2300 mhz
3000 mah battery

both have
4 gb memory
64 gb internal storage
micro sd support
3000 mah battery

onplus 3t
401 ppi at 1080x1920
16 mp front cam
sd 821 2350 nhz
6 gb ram
128 gb storage
no micro sd
3400 mah battery

honor 8 is cheapest but better screen, slightly more battery, and i think better camera with zte axon 7. idk if dual cam is a meme. or most battery and internal space but no micro sd with oneplus 3t.

what to do?
i'm buying at least one tonight or tomorrow.

mAh is a dumb way to measure battery capacity. Amps*Voltage*Time will give you energy, voltage drops from its peak down to a minimum usable level whilst current depends on usage, hence its use at estimating battery capacities. Phones run at 4-5V and laptops generally 9V or higher, so you can't really compare directly between them, many laptops will quote energy capacity in Wh (energy) which is a more sensible way to represent battery power delivery.
