Are there any TVs that respect my freedom?
i.e. TVs with open source firmware

Don't buy a smart TV, it's a bad idea. Even if its OS is OS. Use a dumb TV/monitor connected to a smarter device which controls what is displayed.

Man, the problem with this is all TVs without smart shit are real cheap shit in general.
This tends to mean they're lower quality with shit PWM

basically all tvs are smart TVs now

>dumb TV
Doesn't exist in modern form.
My TV will be firewalled without Internet access, if I can't find one that's free as in freedom.

Why don't you just not connect it to the Internet?
>>57663494
I am not connecting it to the Internet, but to a LAN.

For what purpose?

NAS

That's retarded. Just use a separate client and connect it via HDMI or Displayport to your TV. There's no reason to connect untrusted software to your network. Whatever software is managing those video files on the TV is probably inferior to whatever you would run on a small client anyway.
