When I install any linux distro on this the issue never happens

This is my brothers laptop and he says it's hardware but I doubt it.

Anyone experience this issue before? Google is a bitch to determine my exact situation as other fags can't even 'run explorer.exe' so their problem clogs search engines.

waiting for a gpu is literally the shittiest advice. when the 1080 ti finally gets announced, then released, and then to the stores to actually buy it'll first be:

1. fucking hard to get, you'll be in line waiting thank to another paper release
2. fucking expensive while the older models probably get a discount

and at the point you get one there's a new retard telling you to wait for whatever gpu is "around the corner"(read: half a year away) and the cycle continues. just buy whatever the fuck you need/want at a given time and hope you get some kind of a decent deal on it. if there's a real reason to wait e.g. don't see any value in upgrading or need something which the new gpus are able to do and the current one you have doesn't, then by all means wait.

I have been having blue screens with my desktop, and I am 100% sure that it is a hardware issue because I installed Ubuntu and it also crashed.

What is the best way to track down a specific piece of hardware which has the problem?

I have already tried swapping out the RAM and GPU, and in the history of owning this desktop I have replaced hard drives. So what I believe I am left with is the Mobo, PSU, or dare I say the fucking optical drive.

I also took pics of the Ubuntu error message, here is one of them.

If I have two SSD drives connected, and only use one of them frequently (OS, program files), will the second (storage) still wear just as fast?

The second one wont wear meanwhile its not on use.

The OS one will wear but modern SSDs wont die even if they are on torture tests for 2-4 years.
>>
>>57664778
Ok, because I was planning to buy another smaller 850 evo (have a 1tb on the way) before I decide what to do with it. I'll just put everything on that and use an HDD for storage. Originally I was going to use the 1tb for storage/infrequently used program files, and a smaller one for OS/frequently used program files.

I've got some tables in a local database

Say they look like this

id(PK) gameseries(Foreign Key) gameplatform(Foreign Key) gamename
1 2 (id) 5 (id) Abc

I want to print this data in a PHP and this works
<?php
echo "<table>";
echo "<th>id</th> <th>series</th> <th>platform</th> <th>name</th>";
$query = "SELECT id, gameseries, gameplatform, gamename FROM TableName";
$resultset = $conn->query($query);
while ($games = $resultset->fetch()) {
echo "<tr>";
echo "<td>".$games["id"]."</td>";
echo "<td>".$games["gameseries"]."</td>";
echo "<td>".$games["gameplatform"]."</td>";
echo "<td>".$games["gamename"]."</td>";
echo "</a>";
echo "</p>";
}
echo "</table>"; ?>

But rather than actually showing the platform or showing the series, it's just displayed as numbers like "1" or "3". How can I get it to properly print the table?

Appreciate any help

In Z170 motherboards just overclocking capabilities.
They all have what you might need, multiple fans, PCIe Slots etc.

Other might be how it handles more than 2 PCIe cards like x16 and x8 or x8 and x8.

Just get a GA-Z170XP-SLI if you are looking for something cheap.

Just picking up HTML/CSS (very first computer stuff learning for me). I don't understand the need for both margin and padding in CSS. Don't they essentially perform the same function? Or can someone point me to a resource explaining why?
>>
>>57666087
Bro just learn an actual language, html leads nowherw useful.

padding is the space between the content and the border, margin is the space outside the border
>>
>>57666121
I'm going thru codecademy, I just started where it recommended. My question was really asking, how do they really make a difference? Like obviously they're space inside or outside of the border, but what does that accomplish/why is that useful?
>>
>>57666051
If you're talking about shitty Logitech speakers plugged in by a 3.5 mm jack, no. The D/A conversion is still being handled by the motherboard.

If your have speakers or an audio interface that plug in through USB/Thunderbolt/Firewire, then the conversion will most likely be much much better.

To give you more control.
If you didn't have margin, all borders would always be touching each other.
If you didn't have padding the border would be to close to the content.

Codecademy sucks, and do programming first.
Yes programming is harder, but HTML/CSS alone is useless AND it's easier to learn HTML/CSS once you can code.

forgive me my xtreme stupidity, but is the overclocking potential on the GTX 1060 real low already? It sounds like it's not really possible to do much better than factory OC on cards that have it. Not to say you can't squeeze another 1 or 2 fps, but...I had previously been thinking of getting the Xtreme Gaming variant with the absurdly large heat sink, and then getting into overclocking after it starts falling behind in a year or two. Was initially thinking that heat would be the limiting factor on overclocking but a day's worth of reading is making this seem less simple than that...

Normally I'd sort this info out on my own and learn but I don't want to miss out on good deals over the next couple of days, and I know there's several day's reading ahead of me to learn about this stuff properly.

Which Linux distros meet the following criteria:

1) Have live USB images that both boot and install in UEFI mode without a fight

Maybe you haven't formatted the whole disk, but only the partition ? I don't know how win8 works, but if the bootloader is outside the partition, it could explain it.

> Also, which linux distro should I install on my laptop?

What do you want to do ? The best Linux distro depends a lot of your uses.

> My laptops gpu is sort of bad but its i7 so I guess it should be good enough to hold linux?

Linux can run on a Pentium 4. It depends on what you want to do with it.

Ubuntu and Linux Mint are 2 distros easy for beginners.
Without more information, I would suggests you to try Ubuntu. I personally don't like the native interface (Unity), but I encourages you to try it.
If you don't like it, there are others "flavours" of Ubuntu with different interfaces. Most popular interfaces are Gnome (Ubuntu Gnome), KDE (Kubuntu), Mate (Ubuntu Mate) and XFCE (Xubuntu).
Anyway, you can't know what you'll like without trying.

There is probably a boot order option and you must put the disk first.

>How do I break an infinite while loop that is inside the main from a function inside the header file ?

You can't.
What's you can do is returning a value what take 0 if you want to stop the loop, and 1 otherwise.

In the main, use this value.

Thank you very much. I used exit(0);

In the header there is a function like:

Really?

Get

And buy a I5-6500 with the money you will save.

Gonna set me up an eGPU for my Lenovo x230 and have heard that the 1060 is a better card because of it's ability to compress data over the less-than-ideal mpci-e bridge. At this point my only choice is how much I should spend for that extra ritzy trim. I either get the windforce trim or the xtreme gamer trim, the only difference being how much more fucking huge the heat sink on the xtreme gamer trim is. It is ridiculous, and if heat is the only limiting factor to overclocking then there is a shitload of overhead with that cooling system (60C at highest load, looks like).

So I have a second HDD plugged into my mobo. The second HDD has Windows 8 and useless stuff on it. How can I reformat it and install another OS while it's plugged in?

>MBAM
is that called malwarebytes?
if so, seems to much closed source,
I remember a free program that advertised only as malware removal, but did everything from checking auto starts and clearing registry...
I think it had a cross on a shield as logo, anyone remembers?
>>
>>57673113
CCleaner?

Malwarebytes checks your startup list, services, drivers, etc on every scan.
So far its the best program you can use this days to remove malware this days.

Adwcleaner is to remove adware and some dodgy malware, which is getting merged into malwarebytes eventually.

there is also the open-source antivirus ClamAV
