Glass is made of billions of tiny cracks you can't see. When you drop a phone, those cracks undergo higher pressures that, if not cracked on the first drop, significantly increase the chances that your next drop will cause large cracks.

Glasses like Gorilla Glass are hit by ions when made that basically compress these cracks and cause them to resist spreading, which is what gives these resistant glasses their properties.

My case that was 3 bucks has managed to save my phone more than OtterBox or other brand cases and it blows my mind how anything even breaks from such simple shit.

Replaced the spectrum 2 with an LG G2 (upset since nonremovable battery and no expandable storage) and got another 3 dollar case and it still gets dropped in ways that break other phones from even less impacts and its all fine while theirs break

2-3 tempered glass protectors beats replacing the screen and fucking up the already negligible waterproofing

I had a palm Centro that fell from a Ferris wheel once. It had a big scratch along the back but was fine otherwise.
