Anyone have tips on how to play Spotify songs downloaded to a microsd card connected to a nexus 5x via usb-c microsd card reader? I thought it would be as simple as plugging it in and instantly seeing my songs available offline in app, but apparently not..
Spotify is constantly "losing" all the shit I download to SD or otherwise on Android and I don't understand why.
I just start it up sometimes and everything is gone.

Make sure you are not using a cleaner application or anything that has acces to remove cache.

OP here, same problem although since I switched phones it has stopped.. for now. I contacted Spotify about this and they said it's because I no longer have a Facebook account attached to my spotify account. At one time it did and apparently whatever they did to allow me to continue using my account causes this error. Do your songs get "deleted" but if you check out the app in system settings the cached data is still there?

I suppose any files you "download" from Spotify for offline playback are just temporary, since it's not a music downloading service
You could just use one of those spotify ripper scripts from github and save the download mp3s wherever you want.

I don't know. I was able to get an API key a few weeks ago and libspotify is still working, too. There's really nothing stopping you from doing what I said.

I got mine instantly. Not sure what you did wrong. Did you leave the description field empty?
You could just use google to find a working one though.site:github.com spotify_appkey.key
