I'm running Arch Linux and recently switched from Nvidia to Nouveau drivers, but I'm having noticeable performance issues in games/gaming. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive won't run smoothly at all, my frames drop to single digits on the menu and the mouse is extremely choppy. Not a lot of information online...Any tips?
Another example would be a fresh, vanilla install of Minecraft simply runs at 10-15 at best, in comparison to 100+ I would easily get with the Nvidia drivers. My GPU is an EVGA gtx 560ti, the 2GB version. Never had issues before.
Driver version is "xf86-video-nouveau 1.0.13-1"

use the nvidia drivers instead, nouveau is garbo.

I switched from the Nvidia drivers due to performance and constant buggy issues. I'd rather not have to select between "Bad, or also bad". Thank you, though.

well then you should've bought AMD.
To clarify: The Nouveau drivers work a lot better on my OS than the Nvidia ones, the only issues I'm having is to do with games, which is a relatively minor concern. An example would be the TTYs (full-screen consoles) on proprietary Nvidia show up at the wrong resolution and don't cover the whole screen, as well as they only show on one monitor.
With the open drivers it fits more text and mirrors to second monitor. A lot of minor, important details.

Not an exact option now, I've had this card for a long time, but that's a good thought process.

Get the RX 470 or 480 8GB and just use mesa (open drivers). Get either XFX GTR or the MSI ones.

Alas, in my NEEThood, a different GPU is out of the question, but I'll keep that option open. Thank you!

Nvidia driver works fine on ubuntu and debian
