Who here uses Windows 8.1?
With Classic Shell it's like the happy medium between 7 and 10.
Me , i use enterprise tho

VMs OSes don't need to be modern. XP is working great here.
I have Windows 8.1 on a Pentium M laptop from 2005. It's actually pretty usable.
>install windows 8.1
>remove all metro (((apps)))
>opt-out spy options
>disable hot corners/charm bar cancer
>install classic shell
comfy as fuck and have directx 11.2 for gaymen.
will stick with win8.1 until it's time for a new pc, for me there's no reason to go to win10.
Windows 8.1 is still cancer. It still has the same retarded two control panels. It contains a little less crap than Win10 but still has it. It's an abortion.

Windows is by far the most popular OS, so of course it's going to have a low average IQ.
I have Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro with classic shell on my secondary computer and it's not entirely awful, but I still prefer 7.
Here!
I use Debian on my laptop though.
>>57599298
I used to. Then I just went back to Windows 7 Ultimate because I wanted the Aero look again.
>>57599298
I don't.

Also:
7SP1 > LTSB2015 > 8.1(Nov2014) > LTSB2016
The order I would choose them.
>>57599298
You have to be a literal fucking retard to use 8.1 over 10.
Your only legitimate choices are 7 or 10 - anyone still using 8 is using a half-aborted abomination.

>A faster win7
>Abomination
kys yourself asap

Same UI and Botnet features as 10 minus aesthetics and transparency. It has bugs with trackpad and other hardware profiles resetting randomly. Windows update in 8.1 is broken even till date and disk cleanup takes 7 hours to complete when you run it the first time. No easy way to implement dark theme without hiding text and window controls. Windows 8 store is outdated and useless.
Why use this failed abortion?
>>57599298
Yes
>>57599881
I see you got the dreamsparks
>>57600474
No, you do not perform disk cleanup.

If not for my gaymes, at this point Ubuntu 16.04 is the best alternative hands down to Windows 10 nonsense. I have used LibreOffice and other tools, they are quite easy to master within a week.
i would install windows 7 probably right now if the support didn't end in 2020, im planning to use this PC beyond that so that'd be pretty retarded, and although wangblows 10 is ugly its working well

You can't use Windows 7 SP1 anymore without manually installing most of the updates. When you check for updates it just goes on and on for hours without end even with update agent v7 installed.
They are not fucking around anymore, they will kill Windows 7 in the coming year.
I tried to like it.
>going through image-folders take ages because it takes about 4-5 times longer to load images in 7 or 10 for no reason
>over time programs begin opening
>sfc /scannow found shit to fix OUT OF THE BOX and later every time I randomly ran it again on random intervals. doesn't happen with 7 or 10
>more likely to have programs crash
>first time ever I had to go into safe mode to have up-to-date chipset/cpu/whatever drivers to actually install
It's a mess
>>57600564
I tried using LibreOffice for a project and it completely screws up the formatting(eg. the footnotes and locations of pictures goes haywire or reset) when I access it through Office 365 and vice versa. Not sure if I did something that caused the problem though.

You need four updates to make Windows Update work properly.

Use 7 now, and swtitch in 2020, what's that difficult? Most likely 7 will get extended support anyway due to its market share.

You can't interchange between Office and LibreOffice. The open document formats are deliberately fucked over by Microsoft.
You can however, export the file to PDF if you want to share it.

Can't be bothered considering a Ubuntu net install takes about 30mins to fetch and install with all updates and a DE of my choice.

>Can't be bothered considering a Ubuntu net install takes about 30mins to fetch and install with all updates
Well, serahcing for updates taes like 5 minutes and downloading them another 10 minutes or so. Add another 5 to 10 minutes for injstallation..
Used to until my computer force updated a few months back.
I have a disc but the install always fails and reverts I have no clue what the fuck is wrong with it.
I have it on my shit consumer Lenovo i use for light gaming because thats what it came with. I "upgraded" to 10 on it, but it then had an issue where BeamNG would freeze if i went past 100m from the spawn and other games just wouldnt load up at all so i reverted.
>>57599862
It should have 100 IQ by that definition.
>>57599298
>unironically calling it 8.1

Fucking eye-infection
>going through image-folders take ages because it takes about 4-5 times longer to load images THAN in 7 or 10 for no reason
>over time programs begin opening SLOWER THE LONGER IT'S ON WITHOUT REBOOTS
Yeah, yeah. Annoying way to highlight missing parts but right now I don't give a fuck.
>>57599298
8.1 runs slower than 10 for me, 8.1 uses more read/writes from the hard drive.

>going through image-folders take ages because it takes about 4-5 times longer to load images THAN in 7 or 10 for no reason
Huh, I've noticed that too.
