If you spend all your time on Facebook, Gmail, and in Word, then why not?

buy an asus eeepc at $199 rather then buyin a chromebook
I bought a Samsung ARM Chromebook for travelling initally, but ended up using it in a lot of classes.
Its cheap, fast and reliable and for most lectures you just need a pdf open and some word processor. Took my real laptop for programming/networks classes though.
I also didnt take care of this chromebook at all, it is scratched to hell, got wet from rain, but nothing has broken after more than 3 years now.

Does Linux affect the battery life?
>>57603476
the battery life has gone down over the past few years but i accredit that to my shitty charging habits/treatment of the battery. but you probably will notice a slight drop considering you're going from running a few tabs of google chrome to running an IDE/compiling/chinese cartoons/whatever you do
>>57603476
It's *nix mane, of-fucking-course it affects battery life. Certainly hope the drivers don't suck ass for your sake.
Love my toshiba chromebook 2 for taking notes in class, viewing powerpoints, browsing 4chan, and streaming movies/youtube vids. I can even torrent. Dont knock it till you try it.
