Google was able to create an amazing UI (could be called a distro too) with smooth animations, consistency, easy to use, no need of the command line and open source based on Linux. Pretty much Apple-like but open.

How come no one has been able to create something even remotely close to this for desktop Linux?
Literally every single Linux distro is ugly, buggy, difficult to use or all of the mentioned.

Linux will never "just werk". Anytime any remotely serious effort is made in that direction all the neckbeards start crying about muh unix philosophy.

What is AOSP? Granted, you have proprietary drivers and radio..but it's pretty much open-source. Nobody is forcing you to run the Google Apps, too.

What's wrong with solus/budgie?

It's fast.
It looks good.
It's functional.

I'm legitimately asking.

that's the problem.

How is that a problem?

if there was a distro based on arch or ubuntu (or shit do a lil bedrock action and mix the two and have both package managers work in tandem, maybe provide a way to detect a newer package than ubuntu's in the package manager gui) that obscured the terminal to windows extents (super+r "cmd" enter) then gave options for advanced users in its settings program and package manager gui like kodi then that would be the best option for everyone. just werks for people who couldn't give half of a fuck, but configurable enough for the neckbeard type to install i3 and zsh. thats basically how windows does it, minus the package managers. the control panel is the advanced version of the settings metro/uwp program. you can use uwp or you can choose to use desktop .exe's/.msi's. giving users options is the best way ro go, but not giving them the option to install an entirely different operating system for more advanced tasks. just a lil lock button in the system settings program to unlock the advanced shit. then there can be centralization because theres a common ground, everyone's got NegrOS and it doesnt really matter much whether one person has it in advanced mode or not. this is what ubuntu and arch have for their seperate communities, but in order for "the year of the linux desktop" to happen there needs to be more people under one roof. theres windows, mac, and a clusterfuck of linux.
