Both candidates were equally bad for privacy, but I'm glad Hillary 'Lets drone Assange' Clinton lost.

What do you think Trump will do in terms of personal encryption/privacy?

Trump has no grasp of technology. Dude doesn't even have a computer in his office.

He did a horrible job of debating Hillary's email issue. It seems the only part of her email scandal he is able to understand is that she deleted 30,000 emails.
>>
>>57597022
*Drumpf
>>
>>57597081
But he has a son. He's ten years old. He has computers. And he is so good with computers that it's unbelievable.
>>
>>57597092

I never got this meme. His great grandfather changed his name to seem more American, over a hundred years ago.

Is this all liberals have? No wonder he won.
>>
Shillary was a horrific candidate for many reasons other than Internet privacy. I'm still aghast that 60 million people voted for that bitch with all the hard evidence against her family. The Doug Band memo pretty much proves they were a criminal cartel. Most disqualified presidential candidate ever.

Trump at least has reason to reexamine him Internet policy and be held to account for it. Assange is probably the only person he actually is in debt to.
>>
>>57597081

He narrowed it down to the easiest way to market the issue.

A nerd going through the details and technical stuff would've just gotten yawns.

Trump, whatever else he might be, is probably the greatest marketing genius of all time.
>>
The surveillance apparatus influential enough to decide its own future.
>>
>>57597022
Trump can't stop technological progress. I'm more concerned that his administration will make the FCC back off on enforcing net neutrality.
>>
>>57597117
>Trump, whatever else he might be, is probably the greatest marketing genius of all time.
Then why is he so (relatively) poor? I mean, gabe fucking newell has more money than trump, and he has like 200 employees
>>
>>57599088
I should clarify that by "progress", I mean that as the government cracks down on such matters, solutions will likely arise to combat it due to demand.
>>
>>57597106
since they are obsessed with calling trump drumpf, then why don't liberals still call jon stewart jonathan leibowitz?
>>
>>57597022
Trump also believes that tech companies should be legally required to provide encryiption backdoors
>>
>>57599137
So? You don't need encryption unless you're pedophile anyway.
>>
>>57597022
Well, he's a republican, the house is currently republican and the senate is republican. Considering the stance the republican party has had in the past, we can expect monitoring to be expanded and encryption to be weakened as much as legally possible because terrorism.

Not that the democrats are all that much better, they kept the patriot act going. They at least had the decency to lie about this stuff until they were caught.
>>
Trump will appoint some right wing person to deal with shit
>>
>>57599165
Or do online banking, or expect your password for various services to remain secure or you want to protect your intellectual property.

This is the ONE issue that I expect big business to stand with the general public on provided the government don't bombard the public with anti encryption propaganda. This will not be in anyone's best interest, at all.
>>
>>57599200
Encryption licensing would solve your worries. Background checks have to be made for everybody that wants encryption, and it has to be approved by an institution.

>>
>>57599278
It's the price of safety. Do you want pedophiles and terrorists to live near you - blissfully unaware, until one day, your own kid is molested by them, or you, and your kid are killed in a mall shooting, along with a dozen other people - with their loved ones, and THEIR children?
>>
>>57599310
what is your point?
>>
>>57599317
It's the price of privacy.
>>
>>57599233
You mean there will be licenses for military grade encryption, bank grade encryption and entertainment grade encryption? I hope you don't because that's a system even big business won't agree to.
>>
>>57599349
Why would you need that? It's not like they'll record your conversations or anything. Just harmless metadata!
>>57599350
'Millitary-grade" encryption doesn't exist. Just call it "very strong encryption" - like a normal person. I'm in favour of granting said encryption, regardless of the business!

Filibusters will happen I'm sure. It will take some time to deport millions of illegals and criminals. Wall will take some time to build perhaps. Trade agreements will have to be brokered. Obamacare's repeal and replacement. I don't think most folks expect things to suddenly flip like a light switch. I think you're off base with the white people who wanted this to happen. Having an out doesn't matter. It's about cleaning up someone's mess (Obama/Women/Minorities). The GOP will be molded into the white people party not the republican. If minorities want to tag along cool. If he doesn't get the work done someone else will.

>>
>>57597022
He wants to ban encryption. He mentioned as much during the RNC.
>>
Trump is outspoken in supporting the NSA and unchecked spying. So was HRC. Trump is a bit better in that he's not evil and conniving enough to actually use it, at least not as effectively as HRC. I just fucking hope we have a libertarian president some day. This rampant authoritarianism is beyond irritating.

>>57599404
Is this nigga serious? It's impossible to tell if this is a shill or a shitposter.
If you're a real human bean: can you name a single person in your life that you're OK with knowing everything about you? Here's the thing about metadata: if you have metadata on everyone, you can basically piece together everything but the exact words of your conversation. Let's say you're a journalist, and you've been contacting several other journalists. All of you are talking to a person with seemingly no personal connections to you. Upon further investigation, you learn that this contact works in the CIA and is contracted out to politically-hot regions and may be divulging secrets (atrocities, ulterior motives, etc.). Fire up the drone!
>>

>Father the Republican Party will be reshaped into white people first.
Fixed in case you had some confusion. You're getting old dad.

>>57599916
We have a federal system which is why there is a duopoly. The same would happen if it was popular vote nationwide. You can see problems with other current systems like the UK for example. UKIP has no real voice since they didn't co-opt a mainstream party. USA the white middle class took over the GOP/Republican instead of building a new party. The systems and infrastructure will be absorbed and used to further this shaping. Democrats are about to go through the same thing in about eight years. That party has been fractured for a long time so they'll have a coup from the other elements eventually.
>>
>>57599165
Fuck off retard
>>
>>57597107
So you chose incompetent evil over competent evil. That's sure to go well.
>>
>>57599949
Well, of course I do - my friends. We share everything between ourselves. I know each and every one's dick length; how many times each of us masturbates, how long we last in bed...my friends even know I've gone commando for a whole day. Suprisingly tolerant bunch - they have no problems with my hobbies, too. They keep surprising me daily.

To get to the point - if you pick good friends, you're in good company. In that system you described...a good friend will stay away from you so he won't get you in trouble as well.
>>
>>57599916
>Who has pushed that into their mind?
It's a problem with the system they have. If you vote for someone less popular you're risking throwing your vote away and letting a candidate that you don't like win because of it. Say you're an anti vaccine climate change denier. You want Jill whats-her-face to win because you agree with her but you're TERRIFIED of Clinton. Instead of voting for Jill, you vote for Trump because he kinda sorta fits you and is a lot more likely to win. And so the single vote system has encouraged you to vote for someone you don't really want for fear of the alternative.
>>57599949
The UK system is downright awful. The past few elections have been so unrepresentative of the population that it'd be hilarious if it weren't so terrifying.

There are no systems that really work 100% but there are better alternatives to these two.

/pol/ created the invasion - with their election tampering. To a degree they're still responsible.
>>
>>57599916

It's not propaganda. It's true. Third parties are too small to get a majority or plurality of the votes. They'll never win.

What they have to do, especially the Green Party, is start winning some local and state elections. When there are cities with Green mayors running well and states with Green governors running well, maybe a Green candidate will have a chance.

Then again everything I knew went out the window two weeks ago.

It really doesn't matter what anyone does because the USA has access and control of both oceans plus the Panama Canal and over the Suez at a whim. The Brits and French couldn't even hold on to the Suez (US bailed them out of that too). The only point another country might be actually be worrisome is when they can actually project force around the world. This is why the dollar is the world's currency not the Euro or the Yuan. EU has access to the Atlantic but not the Pacific. China has access to the Pacific but not the Atlantic. South America if they united to a degree have more potential.
