Netbook thread?
I need to replace this Lenovo S205.
I would like it to be under 12" display size and able to run Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit or similar stable distro.
So what's a good netbook?
Thinkpad X220 with 9cell battery + Slice with 6cell additional battery for a full 20 hours of solid usage.

Seems pretty nice. I'm confused as to how a lenovo can be so cheap with that kind of hardware...usually they have apple-tier pricing.
>>57549290
Because it's a fucking 2011 laptop.
New Thinkpads usually cost the same if not more than a macbook pro, at least in the last year.

Why is that? Their new thinkpad design is awful and only early 2000s business people still have a thinkpad.

It's a 5 year old laptop made just after they acquired the line from IBM, senpai.

I'm sold. It's beautiful and I'm in love.

>just after they acquired the line from IBM
>just
IBM sold their PC business to Lelnovo in fucking 2004.

Actually it was 2005.

Why does lenovo think they are Apple?
It bothers me to no end that netbooks have been replaced by tablets with keyboards.
You can't program on that shit. Who do they think the market is for small devices with keyboards? Kids?

I actually read about this one because I almost bought it.
Shame that no one gives a shit about that support ticket.

I've heard x220 gets really hot and loud.I would prefer x230
>>57549984
it's so fucking close to being great
I have a usb speaker that i intended on being a temporary solution
i had no idea this laptop has been out since 2014 with still no working soundcard
>>57549999
don't trust anything with early intel i3 i5 iwhatever processors
don't get a melting laptop
>>57549931
second. running gallium on an acer c720. everything just werks
>>57550059
Well the sound driver necessary to get it working is pretty widespread so it's causing a lot of issues with other notebooks.
If it worked 100% I wouldn't have even posted this thread; I'd have bought it.

Gallium do everything ubuntu can? Need to run LAMP/LEMP/MEAN stacks and have never done it on another distro.
>>57550166
gallium is based off ubuntu so yeah, it can do anything ubuntu can.
