This. If you get really good car speakers, really good headphones,and a nice HT system, the same song brings out something slightly different on each one. I find it's best to regularly swap between the 3 in order to get the best experience.

i've had a range of depressed frequencies in one ear since i was a child. my brain is completely adjusted to this and i don't notice left-right distortion, except when i am wearing headphones.

headphones unnaturally lock your head in a fixed position relative to the apparent source. for this reason they will always sound less realistic than speakers, because the imaging scenario is not realistic. keep in mind that everyone has some degree of physical hearing distortion that their perception compensates for.

Speakers are always best but sometimes limited if you live with others or in an apartment. Headphones can also be very enjoyable in their own right.

well my opinion is they are both as enjoyable under different circumstances and i wouldn't trade one for the other.

I love my speakers, but headphones are very convenient, especially when you don't want to wake your neighbors up at 3:00am with moaning from c class voice actors.

Headphones bring out more detail (but are more damaging for your ears due to this) at similar price levels, but they dont sound authentic for music, since the singer is singing inside your head. Speakers give a better feeling for me since I like music to "perform" for me, not just analyse it. For gaming, headphones ofc due to 3d sound.

They're not mutually exclusive, Speakers are ideal but sometimes you need to use headphones (like at night, or on the go).

OP says: I listen my music with headphones the 90% of the time , just because i like to listen to music a little bit loud , because with my gear (really shit gear , Taskar headphones or Logitech Z-2300 2.1) at low volumes I can't appreciate some sounds in some tracks (I'm not deaf ^^) and can't use speakers so loud usually because i don't live alone in my house (I don't care about neighbors)

I use some beat up Sony XB700 as headphones, and a Marshall amp as speakers. Not the best Idea but I use it because that's what I got laying around.

My setup is a pair of modded superlux HD668Bs with filters and velour pads, my speakers are logitech z906.

Im happy with both and use either depending on mood really.
