Thinking of buying a 1070 come black friday but worried about

I bought one at release and it is a superb card, especially if you are gaming at 1440p. As yet unlike AMD none of the Nvidia cards see a performance gain in DX12 though. I upgraded from a 770 so it was a good buy for me, but if you're on a 970 or better I'd just wait for the next generation in your position.

I currently have a 7850 2gb. I ahve a 1080p 60hz at the moment but next year ill pick up a 1080p 144hz monitor.

it does well in DX12 and DX11, AMDs cards do okay in DX11 and better in DX12
You'll want a dual fan card btw if space isn't an issue, my dual fan 1070 easily hits 60°+

Well, yeah, it'll fuck your old graphics card squarely up the arse then. If you see one for a good price definitely go for it.

It depends on what you're into but I chose 1440p/60hz instead and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, the Dell U2515H is an absolute pleasure to use and as a new model is out now you might find a good deal on one come black Friday. I don't play online games though so image quality and sharpness are my main concern.

I'd agree if OP has room for one but the small form card does pretty well in benchmarks, from what I've seen it tends to achieve about 1800mhz clock speed as opposed to the 2000mhz - 2100mhz you can expect from the dual fan cards. Not a massive difference in real terms.

I have a sugo13b case so 10.5" gpu limit. I'm limited too either getting some evga cards or that one.

Oh ya I'm eager to upgrade. My card does still do well enough for games I play but recent circumstances will free up about $400. I only briefly tried a 144hz monitor and really enjoyed it for games and everyday use so I figured that at 1080p i would basically be guaranteed high framerates with the 1070. That was my logic anyway, it's still something I need to look into.

Gigabyte and EVGA are both having serious thermal issues this gen.
