They took it away and lost a large and loyal customer base. Now they are more than desperate (extreme understatement) to attract email users.

Skype is shit and will be the next AIM, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo Messenger. The only difference is that the company didn't take it away from the customer like the others. It just never improved and stagnated like all of Microsoft's software.
